I'm sure he'll get the contribution to the game award sometime in the next 5 years.

Team of the Season

The PFA Team of the Year: Barclays Premiership

By Dave Smith 23-04-06

Shay Given - Newcastle United

It may not have been the best of seasons for Newcastle, who felt the need to part company with manager Graeme Souness as a result, but Shay Given has again proved himself to be one of the most consistent keepers in the business....and arguably the best shot-stopper.

Pascal Chimbonda - Wigan Athletic

Just as Wigan as a team have shone in their first season in the Premiership, so too has full back Chimbonda who has quickly become a fans' favourite at the JJB, both for his vigilant defending and his raiding runs down the right flank. Joined last summer from Bastia after turning down Marseille.

John Terry – Chelsea

Once again a virtual ever-present in the Chelsea side which looks like retaining the Premiership title, last year's PFA Players' Player of the Year is again in the frame for the award this year. A 'rock' for Jose Mourinho, he'll be a stalwart for Sven this summer too.

James Carragher – Liverpool

Steven Gerrard may be widely acknowledged as Liverpool's talisman, but fellow scouser Jamie isn't far behind and his partnership with Sami Hyypia is one of the reasons why the Reds have one of the meanest defences in the business. Has now clocked up over 400 appearances for his beloved Reds.

William Gallas – Chelsea

Although he might favour playing in the centre of defence, the Frenchman is equally adept at full back where he's performed admirably in the absence of England's Wayne Bridge. Signed from Marseille in 2001, Gallas made his 200th appearance for the Blues last November.

Steven Gerrard – Liverpool

The Liverpool skipper has featured in the PFA awards, in some capacity or other, so many times that we've virtually run out of superlatives. Liverpool's inspiration and driving force, his level of consistency is incredible - as he proved in leading the Reds to Champions League glory last season.

Frank Lampard – Chelsea

If anyone can match Gerrard for consistency, then look no further than Frank Lampard. With over 100 career goals already to his name, he is far and away the most prolific goalscoring midfielder in the modern game - and he continues to rack up the goals for England too.

Joe Cole – Chelsea

When you take Petr Cech and usual suspects John Terry and Frank Lampard out of the equation, there aren't many Chelsea players who can class themselves as regulars. But Joe Cole has become one this season and that, alone, is a measure of his impressive development under Jose Mourinho.

Cristiano Ronaldo - Manchester United

The dazzling Portuguese winger says he's desperate to repay the faith shown in him by Sir Alex Ferguson, and he's been as good as his word this season. He's added consistency to his undisputed class and has chipped in with some valuable and spectacular goals in clocking up 100 United appearances.

Thierry Henry – Arsenal

Just when you thought Thierry Henry had exhausted his repertoire of unbelievable goals, the French magician pulls another rabbit from his bag of amazing tricks. He's set the Champions League alight as well as the Premiership, so dispelling the ludicrous myth that he 'doesn't do it' in the big games.

Wayne Rooney - Manchester United

The phrase 'meteoric rise' is sometimes too casually lavished when a new star begins to shine, but in the case of Wayne Rooney it couldn't be more appropriate. His goals-per-game ratio at club level is matched by his record on the international stage and he is without doubt United AND England's main man.

POTY is voted by the players. It is the players who know who is doing the business on the park week in/week out.

Gerrard wins it.

That just shows that all you fuckers who reckon Lampard is better than Gerrard talk out of your arseholes.

Ithangyou. ;)

Where did I say I agreed with the decision?

I didn't say you did, it just goes against your opinion of Given somewhat. What do his fellow professionals know though, eh?
