Nah didn't watch it.  My mate's a dentist though and he's studied hypnotism as an alternative form of anaesthesia.  I reckon he's using it to perv on his female patients personally.

Aren't all dentists mental anyway?

Im sure it goes on.....

The thought of being hypnotised really scares me.

What is it with dentists anyway? Our mate is a dentist, he has his own practice...but he's completely nuts!! A wee glaswegian guy, drinks like a fish and tells the dirtiest/crudest jokes you can imagine, i rekon his patients must be struckdumb in surprise rather like hypnosis when they meet him!!! He's such a character...hubby MOT's his motorbike and looks after it well, so in return kev the mad dentist does his teeth for free....quite a good deal that!

Hypnosis is all bollocks though. It's merely suggestion.

In what way, I would suggest ;) someone's fantasy of what hypnosis is is bollocks, not the very real applications of it.

There's a bloke called Martin Taylor and he's a "hypnotist". Although in his shows he stresses throughout that it's all bollocks and the stuff he makes people do is simply because of suggestion and not because he's controlling them.

Something about we have the impulse to do something or act in a certain way (ie we could theoretically not feel any pain) but it needs to be triggered.

I don't know I can't remember all the technical stuff.

I agree with that, but it doesn't make it bollocks, it makes the idea of mind-controlled super army soldiers carrying out instructions against their will very questionable. ;)

Also - be very careful about the notion of people only doing what they "want" to do. That need can be on a completely different level to the one that you operate on, and can be twisted. Hyponotherapists will always tell you that you can't do anything you don't want to, I think the truth may be a little darker than they'd want you to know.
