I thought stuff off the pitch was irrelevent. Or does that just apply to Bellamy?

Haven't seen any congratulations to Fred yet for yesterday and the recent good run ! And for being the 5th most successful club in the premiership in the last decade too... [3 games from going clear in 5th place]

Shame Gol, or you, or most of the rest of your mates, can't answer the questions, using your understanding and knowledge of the football club

Congratulations Shepherd for not getting rid of Souness earlier. The good run could have been a good season if Shepherd hadnt of cocked up and kept Souness on instead of getting rid in the summer. I cant believe you of all people would say otherwise

So it's Fred fault we don't win every game we play ?

No point talking to you people, you're obviously little kiddies, with no idea other than what you found during the Keegan roller coaster. The possible financial aspects of not getting rid of a manager has been explained over and over again, it's schoolboy stuff, you should ask an accountant to explain - on second thoughts, don't.

Thanks for answering my questions Gol.

Ask your dads what a shit chairman really is, you know, when they stopped going ... and dreamed of playing in europe, filling the stadium with 52,000 fans, buying England players and appointing trophy winning managers.

I think you'll find that it's MY fault Souness was kept on so long actually. Shepherd's in the clear on that one too.

I didnt say that Leazes and if you cant see how one of your posts contradicts another then you truly have lost it.

You've said yourself that Shepherd made a mistake with Souness and not getting rid of him sooner. So why now have you flipped that round to being something that should be worthy of praise? What financial implications? We had to pay up his contract just like we would have had if we'd have got rid earlier or sooner. Financially speaking it made much more sense to do it in the Summer, before the season, when we had more cash.

Tell you what , I'll play you at your own game. How about you list Shepherds achievements and dont include those ones that are down to SJH that you keep mentioning.

you are so out of it, you can't even tell when I'm taking the piss.

As so many of you lot stupidly blame Shepherd every time we lose, I just thought it would be canny if you gave him credit for a win ...

The club has been the 5th most successful in the country in the last decade, on and off the field in terms of league position, cup runs, european qualification, and ambition.

Contrary to what some of you think, the board doesn't have to spend big money.

They could choose not to, like the directors of the past, and like directors of other big city clubs that have fallen down from good positions. You think they should because that is all you have known, but they don't.

The position we are in now is due to the current board, its not any more attributable to Sir John Hall as it is to Keegan. To say it is, is a fcking stupid statement IMO.

I've put up the figures, you dont' answer them, because you can't, and your just negatively obsessed with Shepherd and behaving like little whinging kiddies.

If someone is on the outside and cares enough for the club to do better, why don't they buy him out ? Don't suppose that will be answered either, and I'm bored with not getting answers anyway and stupid glib comments instead.

you're right I cant tell when you're taking the piss especially when nearly every thread on NO has you accusing people of Shepherd bashing (your new little wanktastic buzz phrase)

Again I havent seen anyone solely blame Shepherd when we lose, but when we continuously lose due to a bad appointment made by him then he has to shoulder some of the responsiblilty. Especially when he perservered with that appointment when it was obvious to most that he was inept. Of course you know this and agreed with it when it suited you. Shepherd isnt the worst chairman we've had but it also doesnt make him the best and 100% guaran fucking teed doesnt make him immune to criticism. Hes Teflon coated as far as you're concerned. Have a problem with Dyer on 80K a week? Its not Freddies fault of course ,he only negotiated the contract. Have a problem with Bellmay leaving? Nowt to do with Fred, he only fucking sold him. You're insane!

You are the one who keeps stating Shepherds achievements. Laughably time and time again you somehow give him credit for selling out 52000 seats every match. I dont think the clubs current position is solely down to SJH but its down to him a hell of a lot more than it is Shepherd, the chairman YOU continuously say is repsonsible for this and that. A fucking stupid statement after another fucking stupid statement. Yet again you cant have it both ways. Huge increase in turnover, huge increase in fanbase, Improved stadium and expansion, ability to sign international players for millions of pounds. All of these were in place before Shepherd took over as chairman. I dont think these achievements are solely down to one man yet you somehow do and to top it off the wrong one.

As I said at the time, and now I think everyone will agree with me, if Shepherd had had any sense whatsoever he would have refused to sell Bellamy when Souness wanted him out. Souness would have walked on a point of principal, saving a shit load of compensation and a year of shit football

Bellamy would still be in Black and White where he belongs, and Shearer would have had a chance at the silver we all crave.

Thats what a good chairman would have done

Disagree totally.

His mistake was appointing Souness in the first place, but to back a player over the manager would have set a truly horrible precedent that would have shattered his credibility as a chairman.

If a new manager wished to try to re-sign Bellamy and Freddy said no then that would be poor on Freddy's behalf, but at the time he had to back Souness.

he should have sat them both down and told them to work it out. He could have loaned him out for another season. What he shouldnt have done, and is a negative against his chairmanship, is orchestrate a smear campaign and get himslef quoted in the press about how Bellamy had done this and that and how Shearer was going to knock seven bells out of him. All it did was compound the fact we were desperate to sell and knock down his market price.

He's in the papers today waffling about how Alan Shearer can have any job he wants at the club from turnstile operator to Chairman. Go on Alan, tell him you want the Chairmans job and watch his fat face drop

Agree totally with this.

Portly Freddie was in a corner - due partly to his own making after giving Souness the remit of 'sort the dressing room out' when he appointed him. Shepherd had no option, I reckon, than to ship Bellamy out.

He should wind Shepherd up by requesting a different job every week.

FS: Hi Alan.

AS: Hi Freddy.

FS: Why the long face Alan?

AS: Oh I dunno......things just aren't working out for me as a steward. When I left the box office to do this I thought it sounded perfect, but.....I dunno. I'm just not happy.

FS: Alan, I've always said you can have any job you want. You name it, it's yours.

AS: REALLY!?!? :nufc: I want to sell the pies! :nufc: But only if I can keep my steward's walkie talkie? :icon_lol:

You don't understand the difference between a chairman and manager.

As snakehips and shak say, the chairman MUST back his manager regarding football related decisions. I realise some of you think Fred is team manager, those that do sadly, there is no hope for you.

The board runs the club financially and commercially, the TEAM manager is responsible for results. Once again, for about the 20th time, if you realise you have made an appointment that is not working, you can't go out and sack him championship manager style, the finance has to be worked out and you have to deal with it. Its ironic that some of you slag off newcastle online for having little kiddies posting nonsense and not understanding certain thinbs, but from what I can see there are more people on here that don't understand basic things like this than there is on Newcastle Online.

There is no point in you slagging Shepherd for backing his manager, then slagging him off for NOT backing his manager. Which people on this board do. You can't have it both ways, it just suggests to me you have an axe to grind, or quite simply are either whingers or just plain stupid.

The board have spent the clubs money to keep the club at the forefront of the top clubs, competing in europe, buying international footballers including Englands nr 1 striker, and filling the ground every week. Like it or not, this is not a duty, they don't have to do it, they do it because they have ambition and are speculating to try and be more successful. Other big city clubs don't do it, neither would we if they weren't so inclined, and the ground is full because people think its been worth going for those reasons. Simple as that. If you don't think so, don't bother going, its your choice. Then the club will be what it was before the Halls and Shepherd, and the vast majority of other big city clubs that we have risen above since 1992 and are still above, but I don't suppose you understand this.

This would be an awesome idea for a TV Show.

Every week Alan tries to find a job he likes but in Curb Your Enthusiasm-esque fashion it all seems to just go wrong for him.
