sweetleftpeg 0
I'd take the Intertoto like. Season starts earlier, competitive games, get into the UEFA Cup. It's worth a punt like.

ewerk 31221
Seeing as how the 4th, 5th, 6th and 7th placed teams in the league seem to have applied it would need a great run of form from us to qualify for the inter two bob never mind the UEFA Cup. A long shot, but one that is tantalising. Cue Wigan to spoil the party!

A long shot, but one that is tantalising. In 5 matches we would have to make up: 2 point on West Ham 3 points on Wigan & Bolton (who have a game in hand) 9 points on Arsenal (who have a game in hand and are on a good run) With our run-in, 7th is very achievable and unless I'm mistaken that would guarantee us InterToto Cup. But 6th, even if we won all our remaining fixtures, is not going to happen. If Clark hadn't put that injury time goal in against Boro it'd probably be a different story. I just think he's a thick cunt who's been brought back solely to tow the party line. If only he had the brains to realise it could damage the club he loves so much. I don't have a UMesque problem with him, it just pissed me off how he celebrated that goal. Thought Gareth Barry was angling for a move with that miss tbh. One of the things they show you on the NUFC tour is his box. Plus, he will always be a legend for that T shirt.

Ramage pisses me off for similar reasons. Fowler's currently a lot more useful to Liverpool and is playing under a decent manager, but in fairness to Clark he's not done badly since he came back. Jimbo 175
Can't see us getting into the InterToenail tbh: The draw for the 2006 UEFA Intertoto Cup has taken place at UEFA headquarters in Nyon, Switzerland. The identities of the participants are not yet known, but the possible pairings of member states have produced some interesting ties. Competition overhaul The summer competition has been overhauled since last season when RC Lens, Hamburger SV and Olympique de Marseille each prevailed to earn a place in the UEFA Cup. From this year, three rounds will be played instead of five, with the eleven victorious teams from the Intertoto Cup final round progressing to the UEFA Cup second qualifying round. The 49 participating associations will have one place in principle, meaning there will be no repeat of France's two-pronged triumph last time around. Seeded teams The identity of the clubs involved will not be confirmed until the end of the 2005/06 campaign but the draw has been made, pairing associations. The first round, which will unfold over two legs on 17/18 and 24/25 June, sees 26 nations vie for 13 places in the second round, when 15 more sides, drawn from the likes of Ukraine, Russia and Scotland, enter the fray. Those matches take place on 1/2 and 8/9 July, before the eight seeded contestants come in for the decisive third round on 15/16 and 22 July. Intriguing fixtures The latter round could throw up some intriguing fixtures, and if Turkey's representatives beat Hungary in the second round, their reward will be a short trip to Greece. France, who have supplied more winners than any other country since the tournament started in 1995, could face Ukraine.

And wasn't his goal against Boro the first in this recent spell? For a player who loves this club as much as he does, are you surprised he celebrated?
