Staying in an amazing lodge in the lakes this week. Yesterday did a killer 27 km walk with about 1600 metres of ascent. First walk for over a year so am literally crippled today. Was amazing though, cloud inversion over the entire

Helvellyn ridge from Raise to Dollywagon pike. Am definitely retiring here. :D

I've been up Helvellyn (not the whole walk you've just done mind). It's a great view. When we got to the top, this mentalist decided to 'fell run' the way back down. I have no idea if he lived. I kinda hoped he didn't...

It's fucking scary the amount of people who you see doing it when you walk around. I never realised they were all foreign though

Roads are lawless, its the fucking wildwest man.

But dont worry, people in your cars just put a high vis vest on you'll be right.

Have to say actually, when I'm driving the single biggest threat I encounter are cyclists coming the other way with those really strong bright flashing lights they have these days. Maybe my eyes are just overly sensitive, but if ever something induces me into an accident, it'll be one of those lights

Cycling should be encouraged rather than the half-arsed attempts such as making cyclists share bus lanes.

I prefer walking but yes, I can see the sense in this.

I would cycle if I thought it was safe enough to do so - but it isn't, so I don't.

I don't even own a bike and walk loads and I think they are often their own worst enemies in terms of pissing other road (and path) users off but the provision for people using bikes as an alternative form of transport in the UK is a joke. Especially as it can only be a good thing if more and more people do it.

Aye.

All of the near misses I've had as a pedestrian recently have involved cyclists running red lights, so I perhaps lack as much sympathy as I should have. Logically, what you're saying makes sense.
