Christmas Tree 4934
So we have a O2 wireless network. Is there a way to prevent a device from connecting to it at certain times!!!! Yes we're talking parental control. I can't do it via password as there are too many items connected.
Tooj 17
Can you not just set up parental control on the device itself? Or has your lass caught you watching porn again but you need to access it whilst in your taxi?

Probably not with the cheap router O2 have supplied you with but most routers should allow you to restrict certain MAC addresses at specified times. But tbh it'll probably take more effort than you're willing to put in.
Christmas Tree 4934
Cheers for the replies. Seems the only way to do it on the 02 router is to set up a new firewall command and block the IP address. Right fanny on.
catmag 337
Surely if you're taking parental control it's just a matter of speaking to your child about it and coming to a compromise? Or bribery. I use that a lot.

Or bribery. I use that a lot. Problem here is that we are dealing with a very tough 21 year old!!! So all your normal parenting stuff is usually about done by now however we have a certain "issue" that needs sorting and we are beyond the UN, inspection teams etc and are moving towards sanctions!!! This would be the easiest option thats left and would bring about the fastest resolution. Obviously being 21 I'm not going to start confiscating iPads phones etc as I see that as breaching her privacy. Happy days
Christmas Tree 4934
My parents compromise when i was a kid was to put a lock on dialing out on the phone so i couldn't get on the internet, My compromise was i'd tell them what i'd changed it to if they promised not to be stupid and try something like that again took me less than 5 mins with my pc to crack their pass and change it My parents used to have a phone lock on one of the old "dial" type phones. A. All 7 of us quickly learned to pick the lock with a hair clip. B. you could still ring out by tapping the little black pip things.
Gemmill 47308
If she's 21, why are you trying to stop her doing anything? Unless she's grooming someone. Is she grooming someone?

Happy days Just turn the router off altogether and live without the internet for a few hours yourself. Buy a Guardian to fill the void. EDIT: Actually set up the guardian to download to your own tablet daily and you can read it offline.
Ayatollah Hermione 14259
If my fatha tried to stop me doing anything at 21, other than smoking crack or something, I'd probably just laugh. And being 21, she'll definitely know more about routers than you, turn off any locks you put on and probably never trust you again. I hope you're satisfied. So, between internet friends, what's she been up to? Buying laughing gas off your credit card? Subscribing to dodgy Japanese porn sites? Has she blocked you on Twitter?
