I’m not giving my phone number out on here though. So we’d all have to meet under the clock in the station and wear a red carnation

I won’t be looking for anything daft in the city centre as I will probably end up standing among a bunch of bellends. Was thinking about a decent pub or something similar more remote, maybe Jesmond or even further.

Meeting up for a pint on the Saturday sounds like a brilliant plan though. I will wear my best leather trousers to get easily recognised.

I’ll be honest, I don’t actually fancy watching the match in town, as it’ll be bedlam. However, if you do get across we could maybe have a massively long overdue Toontastic drink / meet up on the Saturday. Open to everyone but I’m not going to Hooters

If I can’t a ticket I might do the same. See you in hooters.

I was thinking similar but there's engineering work on the trains so it'd probably have to be a slow trip up the A1 via some of Fist's favourite truck stops.

I think I’ve got a table booked upstairs in the Strawberry for the final so I’m afraid any Saturday will be spent desperately trying to think of anything else. If anyone wants any furniture knocking up, send it my way. I’ll need the distraction

Thanks for the invitation, much appreciated.

I am going to watch and support a race at Derwent Res in Consett in June.  Can anyone recommend a decent hotel near?  I have stayed at Slayely a couple of times, but last time I went it was shite.

@wykikitoon...

the lord crews arms is genuine.  :)

the kings head in stanley isn't, was a glorious dive in the 80s full of adorable thundercunts. it shut down and was reinvented as a wife swapping theme hotel (seriously) called the spa, or something like that. think the folk who lived in the neighbourhood were up in arms about it and had a campaign to have it closed. dunno if they were successful or not, but you never know your luck!

I was up for a race at Stamfordham years ago.  The British Nationals and we stayed at a boozer somewhere and it was like that.  Looked canny from the outside, went inside and it was just a shithole locals place.  Ended up getting pissed and my mate shagged a bird in the back of her Berlingo

I've stayed at the Lord Crewe Arms and it's great. Nice bar, food was decent, they've got a big beer garden.

Our room was FUCKING BOILING, but I think that was just cos it was at the top of the building and the walls are about 2 foot thick. Plus it was during the hottest part of summer last year.

Shagging a lass in your own Berlingo is one thing. Finding a lass that OWNS a Berlingo and then shagging her in it is a war crime.

My brother had a little black Fiat Fiorino van back in the day (it was known as “the Batmobile” as he had a Batman sticker sun visor thing, this dates it to the Keaton/Burton effort circa 1989 :good: ) and he’d often come and pick me and others up on Sundays from where we’d collapsed the night before…this one blazing hot summer morning I opened the rear doors ready for transportation to a shower abd breaksfast chez nous and it FUCKIN STANK of the farmers daughter he’d rifled in its confines the night before ☺️✊🏻

Just remembered my lass got fucking legless at that Lord Crewe Arms, which is an unusual one for her. The first indication I had of how far gone she was was when she got up from the dinner table to go to the bog and walked across the room like a striker bending his run to stay onside.

Spewing ensued. And she missed out on a very nice breakfast.

I think the pub is ancient but it was originally accommodation for travelling pilgrims or something. Always gets rave reviews about the food iirc

Reminds me, I went to a lowkey leaving do once. There were only about 5 of us and we ended up spending the night in The Vineyard. The lass who was leaving had had about 5 bottles of Duvel. She stood up to go to the loos and uttered the immortal words “Eee! What’s happened to me legs?”

I'm very happy with how things are these days but I must admit I do miss Duvel.

I haven’t been in for ages but it used to be the only beer they sold in there. Rest was wine or cocktails
