If you've now paid for a year up front, can't you just cancel it now? This is what I do with streaming subscriptions, it still lets you watch until the end of the period but no more "D'Oh!" experiences.

Yeah. Check the T&Cs but if you cancel stuff like that you usual still get it up until the end of the subscription period (because you’ve already paid for it)

My mate lost his keys on a night out once, but didn't realise it until he'd got to his front door, mortal, with his takeaway chicken tikka masala in his hand. When we pulled up at the house in the taxi a bit later, he'd fallen asleep on the doorstep and he looked like he'd been murdered cos the scruffy cunt had eaten the bright red curry with his bare hands.
