It was ok but I didn’t stick with it / watch them all. Also, iirc, the best stuff Peter Kay did (That Peter Kay Thing and Phoenix Nights imo) the writing team was him along with Neil Fitzmaurice and Dave Spikey. Talking of the subtle bits, in The Ice Cream Man Cometh one, he’s at some event selling his wares where there’s lots of people. And in the crowd you see Leonard. Or what you actually see is the massive cross with the wheel on the bottom amongst the crowd. The one Leonard took with him when he went preaching in town. But Leonard’s character hadn’t been introduced yet because his episode is later in the series.

Aye, no coincidence that Max and Paddy was shite without those two. I’m sure I remember him saying that Airplane was a big influence on Phoenix Nights/TPKT which explains all the little jokes buried away in the background for rewatches

Just found a bunch of Smiths vinyl singled that I forgot I had. Some clear or orange see through vinyl and shit. The highest value on discogs so far is £50 odd. I can see these fuckers getting listed.

Also found this, which is going nowhere:

Guarantee CT loved 'Lady in red' by Chris De Burgh.

What do you think, Johnathan Frakes?

There's genuinely only three songs on there I'd skip. Maybe even just two, depending on whether I'm in a Holiday Rap mood.

🎶

We're going to London, and New York city

And we'll take a piece of Amsterdam

We're gonna ring rongy* dong for a holiday

🎵

*I accept these might not be the actual words

It's all thriller, no filler. What a year.

Was thinking why the 60s soul? Then I remembered the influence of Levi’s adverts. The Lady in Red though. I knew a lad in the 90s roughly my age (Who was otherwise seemingly normal and a good laugh) but who was genuinely into Chris De Burg. Fuck me :(

Also, as with picture discs, the sound quality of coloured vinyl was always terrible.

I actually don't have much idea what to do with these. I don't have a record player so can't check if they still play OK, so it would just be a case of selling them in a you get what you get basis, but not sure if I'm comfortable doing that.

They'll probably just go nowhere if I need to give them some sort of rating. The sleeves are pristine mind, they look brand new cos they've just been in a document box for the last 30 years.

Might be worth looking for a second hand record store that’s local. The Smiths stuff will always be collectible. That 586 Records in Gateshead is exclusively (or almost exclusively) vinyl and sells new and second hand. It’s mainly dance but he definitely does a little bit of indie / other stuff.

Fucking hate that song, me and the Mrs. used to like CDB in his Spanish Train/Crusader album days, saw him a few times, excellent musician. Then he wrote that piece of shit and became dead to us.

If only you knew someone who has a record player, and a jukebox, who has a load of time on his hands (well will have in a few weeks when the weather is shit) because he's retired, who could give them a spin to rate them for you.

Cheers I'll have a look at this. I was thinking the bloke will just rip us off but I don't actually care. If I price them all up on that discogs so I've got some idea if he's just totally taking the piss, after that he can bend me over and take liberties as he pleases.
