wykikitoon 20129
Jesus, I made a right mistake this morning. I had run out of podcasts and don't like listening to music first thing. So I put Radio 5Live on for the first time in years. Fuck me. What utter fucking Whale Spunk. First bit. Some cunts at some university have done a study into fat kids and worked out it grew during lockdown and mostly to kids in poor area's. Well smash me in the face and call me surprised. A) Some professor cunt at some University has got funding for this and B.) Some cunt at the BBC has thought this is new worthy. 'Oh Theodore, I am seeing a pattern here' 'Oh what's that Beatrice?' 'During lockdown Curtis from the local council estate got fat during lockdown' 'Oh do tell me more Beatrice' 'Well, whilst you and I we're doing Joe Wicks with the children on our multiple ipads bought on a whim, he was sat on his Xbox. Whilst you and I were buying Sushi from the local Deli to keep it in business, buying more than what we needed, he was eating fish fingers and chips, or getting a microwave meal?' 'Oh there's more Theodore! Whilst you and I were doing our hour of exercise with Tarquin and Jemima, he was playing FIFA on his Xbox! Whilst we were clapping on a Thursday, he was again, playing FIFA on his Xbox!' 'Well, where was his Mother and Father?' 'Oh, his mother was doing double shifts cleaning at the local Sainsbury's and his father was................hmmmmm, he doesn't have one apparently' 'Oh Beatrice, this needs logging down, this is MIND blowing, oooo sooooooo exciting' FUCK OFF. Then they went onto knife crime as some knives have been made illegal to posses now and carry a prison sentence. They got an ex Cheif super of the Met on. He was saying how the measures aren't going to work similar to the stop and search. We need to go through and do more with the kids. Engage with them more and funding needs to go into youth programmes etc to educate them. Rachel Burden wasn't interested in that, nah, I shall talk over him and tell him they didn't have time as it doesn't fit the agenda. But oh lets talk about Traitors instead. FUCK OFF. What a fucking heap of shit that channel is. 1

I listened to some of this and thought i was an interesting study. The actual findings of the study, which were not obvious at least to me, was that the loss of physical activity in lockdown was permanent and is projected to cost the NHS billions of pounds in the future. Counteracting it now could reduce this impact. Is that worthy aof a research grant? I'd say yes personally. The knife crime bit I missed, but if you're getting angry about Rachael Burdon then you need to be on beta blockers mate! They had another knife crime piece yesterday where some person pointed out nobody uses the pointy bit of a knife for legitimate purposes. If all knives were made with blunt ends (still sharp edges) you could reduce fatalities by 50%. Again, I thought it was interesting enough.

This is kitchen knives I'm talking about. Zombie knives and the like don't really have a legitimate function in places like the UK. Maybe they do in the wilds of New Zealand though. So people being obese is going to have an impact on the NHS? What? You need some professor to tell you that? Exercise to reduce obesity will have a positive impact on the NHS? Wooooooo, who knew. With specific respect to an unintended consequence of lockdown, something that has never happened before in the history of the UK. You might just think this is common sense with your stereotypes (dunno why you picked on Tarquin rather Jordan mind, I can assure you the Tarquins will be fine), so we don't need to bother measuring this effect or directly countering it, but honestly, by spending an absolutely relative tiny amount on research like this we can save millions using targetted preventative strategies. This is what a grown up country should do, it's by ignoring the root cause of obesity and diseases like diabetes we have ended up where we are under the tories. Honestly mate, you sound like my Mum who in turn sounds like GBeeber.
Monkeys Fist 42413
Me and Fist Jnr. made full use of our allowed exercise time during lockdown by cycling everyday when there were no cars about. The skinny little goober still went through two PS controllers. I also sent him out at night to stab cats for the extra meat.
NJS 4378
The answer to family engagement for health reasons and reducing knife crime is exactly the same - expanded youth and family social services. Unfortunately it's now a consensus that public services can never be afforded again.

wykikitoon 20129
I think threads have crossed here. Take away the lockdown. We have known for decades that obesity is a huge drain on the NHS. It doesn't need anymore studies to know this. Obesity in children increased during lockdown and it increased in area's of poverty higher. Fine. But is this really a surprise? Drive through any poor area's and all you see is takeaways etc. It's not a fucking surprise to me at all. It's nothing to do with ignoring it. No, but what it is is knocking the branch of academia that's trying to tackle it. Sorry, it just smacks of "we don't need experts" which I think is exactly why we are where we are. And for me, of all the things to get worked up about, all the things that are so blatantly wrong in this country, it's just an odd thing to get worked up about. I'll leave it there. Like Renton says, it's less about the increase in obesity, and more about the permanent damage it's done. 'Normal' obesity could be addressed with an increase in funding for sports activities in schools, greater education on dieting, and the like. But this is a huge swathe of the population who spent a year damaged by lockdown, damage that can't be undone.

NJS 4378
The decimation of public services and reluctance to restore them IS the biggest issue facing the country. It covers food banks, crime, poverty, housing, welfare, health and the economy.

Pensions are something I've just paid into but never took any real notice.....until this week. I have several pensions dotted around which im just tracking down now. Im having a look at Pensionbee to combine them all but I don't have a Scooby-doo. What does everyone do?

Nefilim 14
Not reading back through this thread, but how much have you guys talked about the WEF? Before I get yeeted out of this thread - I think socialism is very bad. Socialism = death. This country is on a path to desctruction - all which can be sourced to Tony Blair 1997. Fast forward to 2024, Tony is still going - but this time non-elected.
