Was on longsands with the kids Yesterday, only was going to stay an hour or so  but it was cool with a breeze and they met friends, so ended up staying more than 4 hours. As the afternoon drew on until  evening the atmosphere changed, with lots of drinking, bonging, and lairy behaviour. Oh, and some of the sunshine fanny was eye popping. Went home but at night I could hear constant police sirens and the small of fire was everywhere.

I don't want to sound like an old spoilsport cunt and stop people enjoying themselves, but this culture of getting pissed on the beach and often having fights only started with lock down. The pubs are open again now, fuck off to them if that's what you want to do or keep it in your sink estate.

Fucking hell, how old and middle class I've become. Think we should draw the line at knife attacks mind.  Anyway, this will be why there was a camera crew at Cullercoats bay today.

Truly horrendous. I recently was involved in a fundraiser for a guy with MND who 3 years ago was running the London Marathon. He's now wheelchair bound, and has lost the ability to speak. It's a horrendous condition.

Christ. Shame for the guy. MND is horrific. My mates dad was fairly recently diagnosed and they're all going through the wringer, struggling to keep him comfortable and involved while watching him lose all his motor skills at a really frightening rate.

Must be even more devastating for someone this young. Maybe I'm blinkered or don't pay enough attention but it's not a disease I've ever heard talked about much, bar the sad last few years of Fernando Ricksen.

It was socialised fairly significantly 10 years ago or so with the Ice Bucket Challenge which was in support of ALS. It's also gained notoriety in association with anything to do with Stephen Hawking so I wouldn't say it's a hidden disease. The horrific thing is, it's degenerative. No one is ever coming back from it, yet the brain remains perfectly healthy. Pete, who I know cannot talk or move, but he wrote an entire quiz for the fundraiser night we did for him. Truly remarkable.

an old friend of mine lost his mother to it recently. it's an absolutely brutal disease. the worst part being the brain is unaffected as the body slowly shuts down

He’s apparently been getting help from the Doddie Weir Foundation, it’s raised so much money it’s changed the face of research into MND

https://www.myname5doddie.co.uk/

Met Weir a couple of times in my youth (some mates played against him at school/youth games, I liked rugby but was never near that level) once I was escorting the cousin of one of his Scotland teammates out for a drink… things were going ok, then he walked into the bar we were in with his mate Carl Hogg  (Hogg now married to Jill Douglas, BBC sports reporter and CEO of the DWF) my date immediately made a beeline for these two very tall athletic looking lads, I was introduced and after pointing out some mutual friends I was mostly silent, she spent the next hour heavily flirting with them and other rugby types. Didn’t see her again.

Must have been watching the Eurovision host city debate and identified it as a potential threat.

I just had a load of furniture delivered. The lads turn up. The job is delivery and assembly. Two Indian lads with broad Leeds accents that sounded EXACTLY like the lads off Four Lions.

I noticed only one of them carrying stuff so I wandered into the kitchen and the other one is just standing there.

"Yeah just had heart surgery bro. Can't lift anything. They're not supposed to send me on jobs with heavy stuff but you can't tell them anything."

Two seconds later the phone goes and it's the courier company telling me that one of the lads injured himself on the last delivery (lying cunt!) so I'm only asking and you absolutely don't have to, but one of the items is 82kg, could you please help lift it in and assemble it.

So I've just spent the last 45 minutes moonlighting as a furniture delivery driver. They were dead sound tbf and the poor cunt who had the heart attack looked late 30s, healthy, into his body building so fuck knows what's happened there.

Rubber dinghy rapids bro.

Won't matter til the winter but 8% off your heating bill is not to be sniffed at, especially now. I've seen up to 15% quoted for the saving from this too so that might be at the lower end. YOU'RE WELCOME.
