Howmanheyman 33709
My favourite Christmas films are a Christmas carol, (George C Scott version) and errr.....? (I genuinely can't think of any others off the top of my head). I never understand how something like die hard is A. a great film, and B. a Christmas film but I'm just a simple chap. Howmanheyman 33709
As I'm now working Monday to Friday I'm having to put the Christmas stuff up today which has me in a slightly irritable mood as well as taking the kids to the hairdressers in North Shields as going somewhere local is just a silly thing to do, (the eldest used to go to South Shields so at least it's getting closer). The youngest one's car is fucked and someone's coming out to fix it at some point in the day as well. Hoping to have everything done in time for the match later on. Stotty 23
The Wizard of Oz was my favourite Christmas film growing up. 🧙🏻 It’s still incredible for a nearly 90 year old film
Renton 21941
Howay none of these are really Christmas films. If it's just films that tend to get played at Xmas then you could include all the bond films. One of the Christmas Carol iterations or It's a wonderful life are the main real ones. I might stretch to the Home Alones and that mysognystic one Gemmill stars in too. And the Grinch. Monkeys Fist 42940
I’m so pleased my kids are older now and I don’t have to sit through The Fucking Nativity! Movies. Two things I learned from the experience; 1-Clenching and grinding your teeth for over an hour is painful. 2- I would happily run Marc Wooten over, then reverse back to do it again.

That post has more laughs than the films put together.

Whether you are a simple chap or not, you are absolutely right about both A and B. I do quite like The Grinch for the first half when he is being an utter cunt. I’m less keen on the second half. 1
Alex 35534
Right, I’ll go with 5 I’d pretty much have to watch if I stumbled across them of an evening at this time of year: Die Hard The Apartment It’s A Wonderful Life A Christmas Carol (Alastair Sim version. The George C Scott one is great, but come on - it’s Alastair Sim) Miracle on 34th Street (old B&W version)

I can’t remember the last time I watched Christmas Day tv. There’s too much to do and by the time I sit down I’m pissed and usually fall asleep with a glass of Croft Original in my hand, mostly gibbering on like this EDIT: I like The Snowman and the Snow dog. Are they Christmas films?… 🤷🏻♂️ Edited December 7 by PaddockLad

You’re right, it’s just ingrained as a Christmas film to me but there’s nothing inherently Christmassy about the wizard of oz. other than the gifts I suppose and it all not being true

Anyway practically all Christmas films are about something else and set at Christmas. It’s not like you get many depicting the birth of Jesus is it? I’d argue even It’s A Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol aren’t really about Christmas.

Never got the hype over die hard, haven't seen the others.

I’d argue even It’s A Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol aren’t really about Christmas. Having not seen them (we did Great Expectations twice at school, put me off Dickens for life) I can’t really talk with authority but I think the last two issue a heartwarming message for mankind at the end? That is in essence what, as far I can make out, Christmas is about; the birth of hope. Not that I’m in anyway religious but I can sort of get on board with that, but when in reality the whole thing for my entire life has been an ever increasing and now completely suffocating exercise in commercial and retail bullshit I can’t really reconcile the two. I don’t really want sermons or selfish consumerism. That sounds like I don’t like Christmas which isn’t really the case , I just want the version I can pretty much get with my family as it is . Which probably isn’t much different to most on here, just without the schmaltzy fuckin films ☺️
Howmanheyman 33709
I watch 'A Christmas Carol' once a year, (usually when in a 'relaxed' state), and that's me for Christmas films.
