Dr Gloom 21965
"We haven't arrested our way out of the problem." Never a truer word spoken. Education and rehabilitation is the only solution. The war on drugs is as pointless as the war on terror - it will never be won. When will governments around the world ever learn? Alternatively we could just go down the Duterte route and round them up and shoot them all.

Meenzer 15559
That whole region man. I've got gay friends who swear by Dubai as a destination despite the fact that they're literally illegal there. It's all very well saying "different rules apply to locals and foreigners" - that's broadly true, of course (and not something people should really be turning a blind eye to either), but cases like this show you can easily fall into the trap anyway. Kid Dynamite 7034
Tbf there's a big difference between the likes of Jumeirah Beach in Dubai and traditional parts of the UAE We went 2 years ago as it was coming up the same price to fly emirates for a week in a 5 star hotel as it was to fly Thomas cook to Tenerife in a 4 star hotel I saw one copper all week and he was just sat in his motorbike at an intersection. It was no different to any other tourist destination, lasses in bikinis, clubs selling booze, 101 American restaurants. The only thing putting me off going back is the cheap labour they use, I was a bit naive to their history of human rights abuses prior to going

Park Life 71
Friend of mine works there for a few months of the year and he said it was a total soul destroying nightmare. He just takes his tax free cash and runs.
Holden McGroin 6613
My mate has been working there for years. He works exactly the same job as an Indian fella who gets paid about 10% of what he does. I hate the place. Its just one big contradiction. He got 4 years for possessing a teenth of weed Alright, he was pardoned but he still spent nearly a year in prison which I would guess wasn't a very nice experience in the UAE. Howay 12496
And Infantino is happy for the world cup to go to Qatar, however he said the Trump travel ban may be the reason the USA doesn't get the world cup in 2026. They have some weird fucking morals at FIFA like, so having what is essentially slave labor build the stadiums and hotels is okay (aren't Israelis banned from Qatar as well?) but a bellends travel ban that was once overturned and probably will be again, and that is highly unlikely to be in effect in nine years time is problematic for Infantino? Not saying the Trump ban isn't absurd and shouldn't cost the USA stuff btw, just it's odd that he's kicking up a fuss over what is only ever going to be a short term bit of absurdness and turning a blind eye to horrific things going on in one of the current WC destinations. FWIW I don't really want the USA to get another world cup, I'd find it slightly ridiculous that they would have held two while the UK had held one (in fact many 'proper' football countries will have held 1 or less by then as well). I suppose they have the infrastructure over here but that didn't stop the last England bid failing. My dad's cousin has lived and worked over in UAE for 20 years (think he's in Oman now though) and aye the laws are fucking bizarre over there.
