I am having a lazy afternoon - been working all weekend.

It cant be obvious to build them if not everyone built them was the point. "If you want to build big, you've got to build a pyramid" doesnt hold up to much scrutiny.

With the technology they had, I think it does though. And it seems like a good explanation of the convergent design that is observed. If you disagree, it'd be interesting to know what you think happened. As these civilizations were almost certainly not communicating with each other (and actually were of different eras), you imply interference from a third party. That's quite some claim.

I don't come in here to make claims ffs! I know. :case:

The Egyptian priesthood were given the secret knowledge of the builders. The Mu Mu.

The knowledge was distributed but had one thread.

Plato and whatnot also traveled to Egypt to learn the mystery...

"The same veil of ignorance is maintained when it comes to philosophy. Both Plato and Pythagoras, identified as icons of Greek philosophy, stated that they and other great Greek philosophers had studied and learned that knowledge in Egypt. Many had studied many years at Egyptian schools, to return to Greece as the “first philosophers”. "

Plato studied in Egypt for 13 years under the Horite priest Sechnuphis. Many Greek philosophers had studied at Egyptian schools. Iamblichus wrote that Thales of Miletus insisted that Pythagoras had to go to Memphis to study because the Egyptian priests were a veritable source of knowledge and wisdom, especially when it came to the natural sciences, medicine and astronomy.

I fucking loved the last few pages of this thread  especially Chez's point about how everyone would have been building pyramids if it was the obvious thing to do with your day

We would have fucking sucked at pyramids, we'd never have gotten past the planning stage due to high amounts of pre-historical bureaucracy and complaints at local woad meetings from NIMBYs.

That said, I feel like Chez is right to a point here. Clearly there were civilisations who had an extremely strong grasp of mathematics, far stronger than you would expect for that time period by looking at the subsequent couple of millennia. Not saying that's aliens mind you. Massive knowledge loss on entry to the dark ages I guess.
