I've seen 4 in my village in 49 years and one of them was plastic. Tend to see quite a few in the parks in the major cities, but you would as that's why they were imported in the 19th century from the states. You go to London, Edinburgh etc and they're all over. No idea about the parks of Newcastle as I don't frequent them. Suffice to say they are rare where I live so to see one in your garden is canny.
