Basically going to be fucked overnight. I suspect we'll see similar attacks unfold in places like Turkey as well. Would anyone here take their children to Tunisia, particularly knowing that Brits are being targeted? Not sure what the answer is going to be but unchecked, IS is just going to continue destabilising countries and taking over. Talking about war seems stupid when the West has already caused so much of these problems to surface but at some point the world is going to have to do something. It's fucking appalling what has happened and you watch the news and it's blanket coverage and rightly called a tragedy, but this is probably just like a middling Tuesday in some of the places we've helped the yanks mangle down the years. Which is why you end up with groups like this. As SEW says, you can't do much of anything with splintered groups once you've helped create them, except maybe look at the part you're playing in perpetuating them and dial it back. On one hand I think it shows how European tourist are in a way oblivious to the places they visit but on the other the only hope for a lot of these places is to be "corrupted" by tourism and visitors IMO. I completely accept that western intervention has stirred the shit bucket but that doesn't mean Islam should be allowed to avoid censure for being fucked up. Sure, we stoked the fire and continue to do so in many places, but this is a seriously fucked up ideology that needs to be contained somehow. Not dissimilar to the nazis in that sense. I don't know what the answer is though - like others have said, it's a splinter network rather than a country we're fighting.
