Not where I'm from son :huff: "skids" at our school meant Skids Niven, who was almost exactly Penfold from danger mouse in human teenage boy form :D

French airport security calls that an Alain Prost, or so Chez tells me.

Total crisis management every shift. So close to putting my registration at risk because more senior people to me give unrealistic, unfair and guilt-laden orders out with the words "I'm sure it'll be fine" Well that's lovely, but I'm just not doing it.

Typical shift in my A&E last week was 45 adult patients and 25-30 kids in the department. We have 15ish treatment rooms, 10 of which were had patients in waiting for transfer to the acute medical ward. . . which had no beds. That left 5 rooms free to shuttle in patients from the waiting room and back out again in 4 hours whilst waiting for bloods, X-rays, specialists etc. a line of 8-10 ambulances waiting outside as there are no rooms to put their patients in and the nurses aren't allowed to accept a handover until there is. You try diverting the ambulances to another hospital but they are in exactly the same position so it's not authorised. That in turn leaves no ambulances for 999 calls as they are all queued up at A&E departments. And all of this is down to the Tories closing beds and cutting nurses, not because idiots go to A&E unnecessarily as the media would like you to believe. Even our local 'walk in centre' doesn't allow you to walk in, you have to pre book an appointment  the Tories hope the whole system will collapse so they can privatise the whole thing. Except they tried that with one hospital already and the private company washed their hands of it this week as they couldn't run it anywhere near as well as the NHS had been. Class

The 'diverting the ambulances to another hospital' thing? Yeah, thanks for that  You lot and one other place did that on the same night a couple of weeks ago which meant we were the only place south of the river open - so we got 3 times the traffic. Everything else you described above is an exact scene from our place most nights at the moment, with not enough staff to cope, which is why I get moved from my department to work there if we're not actively operating.

"Fuck this for a game of soldiers, we're losing money hand over fist, can we have some more public money to back us up please?"

They obviously didn't have enough 'hard working taxpayers' working there.
