CleeToonFan 1
To be fair, if there's one profession were you don't get paid more for it being Sunday, or late at night, or a bank holiday, or just because there's a lot of people about that day, it's taxi drivers! Gemmill 45832
Honestly, time and a half / double time went missing out of most of the private sector years ago. No it didn't. That is simply untrue.
Meenzer 15690
Aye that's why. It's not frontline services being cut or anything Lewishham hospital is battling to keep its maternity and a&e wards. I already know of two people that had to have babies at home without a midwife because maternity units were full - that was with two local hospitals operational. And one of the local ones is being shut, with birth rates in the area massively rising. Not to mention all the people that will die that might have been saved if the a&e unit goes. Tory arseholes I simply can't put into words how angry I am about the Lewisham situation. These cath-words will get their comeuppance at the next election, fine, but in the meantime the A&E will close and people will die needlessly. It's disgraceful. Renton 21944
I'm not on top 6 yet. I do 3 x 13 hour shifts including most Sundays which are time and 2/3rds and my fair share of nights which are time and 1/3rd. Add in the odd OT shift and its around £6k on top of my base salary. Band 7s in Urgent Care tend to be office hours so they lose all enhancements. Most of our Band 5s come out with higher wages than our manager. Fuck that for a bit of professional pride. Maybe when the H&SC Bill gets burned by Labour ill consider trying to move up the ladder Fine, but my comment was really about the higher tax band being a deterent to promotion, which is clearly bollocks. See CT is talking unmitigated shit again btw.

Aren't you being massively hypocritical as well as ignorant? I wasn't joking about the tariff 2 thing. Do you not charge more for a taxi journey on an evening, weekend or bank holiday? What's the difference?
Kevin Carr's Gloves 3955
I find it funny that one or two posters on here think they are the absolute authority on everything when in fact they know almost nothing. Has anybody on here ever got out of a cab and thought "wow that driver was such an enlightened thinker and was really clued up about everything in the world of politics"? CleeToonFan 1
Kinda agree with CT that in an increasingly non-religious country it's stupid to pay more on a Sunday, the fact is in private companies they do, plus those Tesco workers aren't legally allowed to work all day on a Sunday, but nurses and doctors etc have to work long hours Sundays, while their kids are home from school. Until Sunday technically becomes 'just another day' by law i think We can let slip a few extra pounds.
Kevin Carr's Gloves 3955
Sunday is important as it is the second day of the weekend, you can't make it just another day or where will the protection for parents come from so they can justifiably spend some time off with their children. And if you want people to work when they want to be at home then pay more money.

catmag 337
I absolutely rely on my nightshift enhancement to earn a decent wage and then I have to pay for childcare so I can actually go to work! If I didn't get that shift allowance it wouldn't be financially viable to work at all.

If you're the future with thoughts like that then I sorely pity the lifestyle your future kids will have to endure. 1. I was saying that I agree with paying more on sunday whilst it still has this status as a 'special' day, just that I don't believe we should have a day set out for religious adherence when we're an increasingly secular society. 2. What relevance does me being the future have to do with my future childrens lifestyles? 3. I don't plan on having children.
