Guest BigThompers
I can't explain the significance of the year 2000. Is that when music was invented? I think if we're going to compare, doing it over the same time period is only fair?
NJS 4389
I can't explain the significance of the year 2000. Is that when music was invented? I think if we're going to compare, doing it over the same time period is only fair? Well make it since Coldplay formed then as I said above, RHCP beat them. Tom 14013
or if you start from 2000 as Thompers suggested then Kings of Leon outsell coldplay by 6 Million.

Did you know that since the Ting Tings released their debut album, no other band has sold more records? Clearly they're the biggest band in Britain today. LeazesMag 0
Green Day have got bigger with each album. Selling over £65m records. Surely that makes them bigger than Coldplay they are also better than Coldplay. Fact
LeazesMag 0
Green Day have got bigger with each album. Selling over £65m records. Surely that makes them bigger than Coldplay Over 7 albums and 18 years They played to 120000 people over 2 days at a UK gig. Not a festival. Their Own gig. Coldplay couldn't do that. The 18 years bit just states the power of the major label. + It doesn't matter how long they are around Bullet in a Bible, from Milton Keynes. Awesome performance. Guest BigThompers
Also if you sneek 1999 in then RHCP outsell Coldplay thanks to Californication. Why would we do that though? I mean if their albums after that had done better than it, you could realistically include it when including them in the "biggest band" category. If you're wanting to go back further just to include a bands biggest selling album, then it shows that they're unlikely to be as big now as they were then, therefore not the biggest band in the world, today BOLD ITALIC. Oh he a band now? no. but he's a musician and the two are mutually exclusive. i don't think people go 'oh i like bands but i don't like solo acts'. that's ridiculous. so they should be lumped together. Brian Eno is the most heard most musician on the planet. there is no doubt. either in his solo, group or production work.

Walliver 0
Where are you guys getting all your album sales figures from? Last.fm have Coldplay as their third most listened to artist. Obviously not a perfect indicator but it shows what a lot of people are listening to: http://www.last.fm/music/+charts/?charttyp...2000-1211716800
