The Fish 10876
Make that current demand. How are you measuring current demand though. By the fact that they'll have the biggest selling album of the year? Even though the year isn't over yet? and Do you count albums released prior to this year in this years tally? Yes. Their album isn't even released, and I'll tell you now nothing will outsell it this year. So your entire argument is based on nothing but supposition? Jesus, Thompers... How can you defend that? You've no idea what global trends will emerge?

The Fish 10876
Sorry Thompers, but you've zero facts to support the supposition that you base your argument on. It's not a valid argument. It's fallen into the realm of opinion, because of that it's simply countered with anybody else saying that Madonna will be the biggest recording artist of 2008. NJS 4389
BT: Another point you miss is calender timing - the new Coldplay album is out this month I think which gives it 6 months. Say U2 release an album in December then it obviously won't outsell Coldplay. However at the end of 2009 it's possible it will have sold more. That's why we are trying to get it through your head that performance over a decent time period is the only fair criteria. At one point you seemed to accept this by defining 2000 and/or since Coldplay formed. That is now dead as we have named artists who have sold more. We also trumped your "demand for tickets" argument with U2. You then tried "the media" - no evidence/examples forthcoming. So we're left with the contrived bet of "most sales in one 12 month period, January to December, of a nominated year" Also you say Coldplay are the biggest band NOW - despite the fact that sales of that album are ZERO for this year. You'll agree that U2 were the biggest band on the planet....until Pop got absoloutley panned and sales subsequently disappointed. No reason whatsoever to assume Coldplay won't get a similar bashing this time around. You have to wonder if Coldplay are big enough to rebound from it too (like U2 have) if they were panned. Ketsbaia 0
Hasn't In Rainbows sold an obscene amount already based on download sales alone? I'd really like to take Thompers up on this "Coldplay to have the biggest selling album of the year" bet, I really would Anyway, only a tit would argue that popularity is indicative of real class. Coldplay aren't a patch on Arcade Fire but have no doubt sold more albums than them.
