cliff railways

Was thinking today, i've lived here all my life and have never been on our cliff railway, so im going to be brave and go on it this summer ;) Hopefully i'll live to tell the tale :o Would you go on one? my son says they are rickety dangerous things and no way would he!

I was on the one between Lynton and Lynmouth years ago, I don't think you've got anything to worry about.

I'm 2 hours drive from there and I've never been, must recify that next month!

Looks like fun, I was on something similar in Germany when I was very young, think it was over the black forest.

Mount Tibidabo or something, iirc.

 

Amazing views from the top, where you can see the whole of Barcelona, Monserrat, the Balearics, and the Pyrenees (maybe see your house ;)). However, if you want to go on one of the rides beware the fairground's not always open - best to go on weekends or holidays I think.

yes ive visited there a few times, amazing scenery. Stood at the bottom looking up at that cliff railway, now that one did look alarming :o

your not on your own with that one mind....there would be no way on Gods green earth you would get me on that an I am normally not bothered.... ;)

I should point out maybe that that thing is actually a fair ground ride. You get up to the top of the mountain on a funicular railway much like the one Toonraider posted, except considerably longer I'd imagine.

(all i manage at fairgrounds/adventure parks is the dodgems or anything that stays firmly on the ground and doesnt involve spinning round in circles either) :o

thank the bejeezus for that....now that I could handle !! I can do fairground height spinny upside down twist around stomach churning stuff no bother....it was just the thought of heading up a cliff face in a glorified tesco trolley that threw me ;)
