Sorry about that chaps, it seems some of our config got itself in a mess of its own accord and stuffed the board up for a while there!

The folks who host our servers were very helpful and we're back online.

 

I can't promise this won't happen again as I essentially had to restore the config from a week old backup but if it does I am much better equipped now to deal with it much more quickly.

Im not that technical minded but I use a lot of discord groups (as do others on here) and they seem nice and clean and relatively straightforward to set up (and free I think).

 

Would be an ideal stopgap for this sort of thing and particularly if the worst ever happened.

 

And before anyone says, “why don’t you set it up”  , I did consider that but assumed it needed to be set up by someone who already is trusted with our personal details etc .

Would it be worth just decamping to Discord anyway? Is it free to set something up that mirrors this place? 

 

Would save you the hassle of having to put this place right on occasion, and if there is a charge, it's presumably less than hosting a separate site etc.

I'm on there, and I find it a pain in the arse, but I wondered if trying to use it like we use this place might make me understand it better.

 

It seems fucking impossible to find anything which is probably why THE CLIPBOARD is dissenting.

tbh It might be handy as a backup but I wouldn't want us to change platform unless we really really had to, I like the old school-ness of this place and the format works for the relatively chaotic discussion style here.

 

Discord would be a fuckin shitshow without a lot of pre-setup.

 

While catastrophising today I have thought about this a lot and landed on the idea that if TT was dead I would rather build a completely new forum than move to discord or reddit or whatever.
