He played for Liverpool in a CL final and was at Man City when they won their first title under Pelligrini so it’s easy for him to be a bit meh about Newcastle especially given the circumstances of his exit… there was a lot of football still in him…

I agree with Gloomy that Bellamy probably played HIS best football whilst he was with us, but he was integrated into better teams at Liverpool and Man City that led to silverware.

Evidently a difficult player to manage, Robson in a very understated way managed to get the best out of him that lesser managers weren't able to do so. I think that says more about SBR than it does about Bellamy.

I wasn't aware he made more appearances for us than he did any other club - if lieu of that you'd think he'd have at least some affiliation with us but I don't see it. Maybe the experiences with Souness, Shearer & Shepherd are still that raw for him 20 years later.

Correct actually. He left Man City in 2011 for Liverpool having done a season on loan at Cardiff. He didn't win any honours with Man City.

Brilliant player, made a huge difference to the entire team. But as we said last week, he’s a fuckin cunt. You don’t need to know anything more that about why he’s a bit iffy about us. I couldn’t give a fuck if he kisses our arses on the TV tbh. He’s a fuckin narcissist and as such will never, ever make it as a manager to any great extent…

He was there in 2011, they won the title in 2011….but you’re right they might have let him go, am not sure…

Yeah I looked at the years so assumed he was there. Point remains, he can say “well look at who I played for after Newcastle”… if he says he played his best football at either of them who are we to say? Playing for these clubs after us allows him to say he moved on to bigger clubs, in the case of Man City at the time that’s questionable but their subsequent success allows the point in his head. It was the first thing the presenter put to him last night “you played you best football at NUFC” and he only partially agreed. So what tbh.

I think it’s a bit mental to be upset about coasting through the second half given practically everyone who follows us and  has a bit of nouse thinks our squad is on the thin side. If we’d scored another 5 in the second half (unlikely) we’d only be 1 goal better off than Chelsea. Or half a point, if you think of it like that. Much better to play it safe in a match that’s already wrapped up and save the players for the remaining 8 games.

we never broke in to a sweat the entire game, they spent the whole first half giving us the ball, we'd didn't need to win it.

we didn't coast through the 2nd half, we dozed off.

I'm not upset we didn't score more as such, I just hope we don't end up rueing it.

Yeah that's my concern as well. I'm not upset about it, but if we miss out on a place in the league on GD, last night's match will be the one that will come to mind.

I get there's balance and game management is necessary. I just felt we moved into that mode a bit too early last night.
