You must have been born around 80 minutes into the cup final...

I was pretty relaxed in the dying minutes of the final until Chiesa scored. And even then nowhere near as nervous as today.

Enjoyed the present from Mr Bankes today tbh.

Great result that. Brentford are a tricky side and good away from home, so we've done well to win it. Wouldn't mind signing Mbuemo either.

Popes kicking seems to have got a bit better of late?

Sandro was magnificent, crowd sang his name from start to finish

Sandro doing a Beardsley but Pedro meant it.

My thoughts entirely … Tonali doing Beardsley-esque shit. Not that any of us are complaining but we saw Pedro do this sort of stuff on more than one occasion.

Have it

Hard fought 3 points

We were loads better than them for the most part though, should have scored a couple at least before the penalty.

Can't be too harsh on Pope for the pen as their player came from a different line and would only have been sighted late. Can say that now that Sandro made it academic with that insane thunderous strike.

Thoroughly  enjoyed the game tonight, especially having a great view of Tonali's winner, despite being sat in front of Thomas Frank's Wansbeck Army who appeared to think NUFC were worse than Jim Smith's 90/91 vintage. He didn't even celebrate the winner.

I remember seeing a couple of his in videos but I think they were from more central position's than Tonali's? He's almost on the corner flag, absolutely mental and the more you look at it the more it seems he meant it.

One against Sheff Wed away comes to mind which was towards the corner. I remember Trevor Francis commentating saying he couldn't have meant it - bitter, jealous cunt that he was.

Beardsley's post match comment to the "did you mean it" question was "Anyone who knows me knows I did".

Gordon's back for Leicester, isn't he?

Isak went off with a tight groin again, and we can't do 90 with Wilson up front if Isak doesn't make it.

just a few thoughts from me, sure they've all been covered already but...

hadn't originally intended going to this one, but so pleased I did now, a proper rollercoaster and not all of it particularly pleasant. but then it always had the potential to be so after what preceded it.

it's hard to knock isak but I think it's reasonable to say he probably should've had a hat trick before the goal he did score, that said mind had we had the game wrapped up in the 1st half brentford would've had cause to be pissed off because I didn't think we were anywhere near our best.

as has been the case on several occasions at home this season it had all the hallmarks of being another game where we throw the 3 points away and we so very nearly did.

and then....

I mean, I was in the gallowgate, so canny far away and me eyes aren't as good as they used to be but even so, it took a second or two to start celebrating because of disbelief and rubbing the old orbs to make sure they were still functioning. a goal to win any fucking football match deserved or not and intended or not.

I don't care that tonali has subsequently said it was 70% cross, it was a fucking thunderbolt that supermac would've been proud of and a one you'll always remember witnessing.

fucking tremendous.

i was in the gallowgate and my eyes are failing too but there was definitely a collective moment of disbelief after it went in before the noise.

agreed with your post. Brentford are a tough side. Could have gone either way but I think we just about edged it and deserved the three points. We were far the better side in the first half.

brilliant atmosphere btw- not just in the gallowgate and the corner. The whole ground was rocking at times.

It should be right up there among the goal of the season contenders regardless of intention. Add points for their keeper ending up tangled in his net too.

I watched it again this morning and didn't actually realise how close to the touchline and the byline he was when he hit it.

Thing is if he did mean it mainly as a cross it was a poor one as none of our players were in the six yard box or close to it.

And he overhit it, just a tad

Isak can be frustrating as fuck at times, but how much of that is down to dog shit service etc.

The one on ones he's had this season and fluffed it is annoying.  But the bloke is a fucking worldy so I can let him off.

I don’t find him frustrating at all. His pros nullify any minor weaknesses.
