Newcastle United, League Cup Winners 2025 - The Party Never Stops

Finally found time to watch the whole match again. Still fucking brilliant. What a performance. Watching Howe on the sidelines being totally concentrated and focused on the match watching his game plan getting executed actually made me remembering the total disaster of Bruce and his jurassic approach to football and tactics.

Also from watching the match I realised how much of a captain‘s performance we sawvfrom Trips. He not just played really well he took charge of organising players as well as talking to the ref.

Last I want to add: Zonal marking? My. Arse. Slot is a lying buffoon. They obviously thought of Burn actually not being a great threat and therefore could get man marked by MacAlister. He was marking Burn whereever he was placed in the box, not just at the far end of the box but also directly in front of goal as well as in shorter positions. They really fucked this one up tactically.

Quite liked the idea of going to the city centre to cheer the bus as it goes past. Not so sure about standing on the town moor in a crowd that big with one portaloo.

Yeah fuck that. I’ll be attempting to access a licensed establishment to watch it on the tv. Unless the rumours are true and Sam Fender is playing a free show….

Not struck on this Town Moor idea tbh, if it rains (which is forecast) could be a bit messy (not in a good way) should be a bus route job for me.

If it is the moor, wouldn't be surprised if Fender does a "surprise" set as it's between the EU/US legs of his tour.

Where did that amazing left-peg cross from Tino come from by the way?

Was he deliberately told to not use his left foot/attack to the byline v West Ham and turn back every time. It could have been a masterstroke again by Eddie or Tino just decided to have a swing at it.

It was a captain’s performance by Trippier. There was a one moment I was struck by when he and Bruno were talking to the ref. Bruno was getting a bit fiery and Trippier just put an arm out across his body to hold

him back a bit and calm him down as he reasoned with the ref.

Exactly, that’s the monent I realised that the captain for the final didn’t need an armband. Good for Bruno accepting it, too.

I wonder if he stays now or bows out on a high. He was such an important first signing and achieved what he set out to so he might decide to bow out and as see out his career somewhere where he can get more regular game time. I wouldn’t blame him if he decided to depart.

His off-field problems are well documented and he could probably get a decent final pay day in Saudi or somewhere in Europe but I’d love him to stay on. His legs might be going but he still has plenty to offer, particularly if we make champions league.

it was a good old fashioned swing with the weaker foot. The thing is they’re professional footballers. Most of them can hit a better cross with their weaker foot than most of us can with out strong one. I’d like to see inverted wingers to do it more often. Of course you go inside on your stronger foot more often but keep the full back guessing by mixing it up. Barnes did that well on Sunday I thought
