Back in the days before satellite/cable TV, he used to crack open a couple of Brown Ales purchased at no small cost from the government-owned liquor store and "watch" our matches on Swedish TV's teletext. He was very good at English swearing and he'd have no doubt texted me saying he was "over the fucking moon" or something. Not least with a Swede scoring the winner and having such a brilliant couple of seasons for us. Time's a bastard, isn't it. Scandinavian broon ale had to be made separately as it had to have 0.2% abv knocked off it as their alcohol duty must've been a little excessive so hope your uncle enjoyed his slightly watered down durg?
Gemmill 50592
I thought Carragher made a right cunt of himself after the game. There was twice he made snide comments about seeing too much of Tindall. One to the panel, and one where he tried it on with Howe, and Howe just said "He's always been absolutely first class for me." At some point, these dickheads need to realise that if it doesn't bother the bloke that they think is being usurped by Tindall, maybe they should stop letting it bother them, or at least shut up about it. Him then having a right face on when Bruno burst into Burn and Isak's interview, shouting "He's from Blyth". It's a perfect encapsulation of why they shouldn't allow that bloke to commentate on every fucking Liverpool game or play the "honorary Geordie/Leicester/whatever fan" in other games. He's incapable of seeing life through anything but scouse eyes. And he can fuck off. And btw fair play to the commentary team at the weekend. I don't particularly care for either of them, but there was never even a hint from Drury that he was wishing Liverpool back into the game. Neville will obviously hate Liverpool, but I also think he doesn't mind us, and he seemed genuinely happy.

It’s not just WHAT we did, it’s the manner in which we did it to get the monkey off our back that fills me with unmeasurable pride and emotion. - Beat the clubs in the top 4 English places. - Played the runaway league leaders in the final. - Ended this 70 year / 56 year hex. - Very much put to bed the argument that NUFC don’t turn up to finals. - Did it without Gordon, Botman & Hall. Any mitigation contrary fuckers could use to diminish what was achieved, we have an answer for. We didn’t win this through circumstance; we won it because we deserved it. It might sound trite to say so but I think it is a natural thing to think back to those you’ve lost at times like this. When I was stood there at Wembley on Sunday watching my club running round the pitch like I’ve enviously witnesses dozens and dozens of other clubs do so in the 40 years I’ve supported this club made me think of my Grandad who I lost in 1991, my Nan who I lost in 1996 and my Mam who I lost in 1997. All of them were forever willing NUFC to win something to put a smile on my face. So yeah, when that finally happened I looked up, pointed up and quietly said “we’ve done it at last!” This fucking club, man. It’s a privilege and a curse wrapped together to support it, I wouldn’t have it any other way. I think because of the almost literal lifetime of waiting for this event it was inevitably very emotional. I would probably have been watching this with my Dad and maybe sister present if they were still here. If I'm honest the empty settee seats at mine were another reason I couldn't face the match on TV, especially as it is very close to their anniversaries (my sister had the good grace to ruin St Patrick's day forever!). That said, the success makes me feel I can genuinely move on from this in the future at least where football's concerned. Here's to all those who couldn't be here.

ewerk 33413
Just had a look at the prize money we picked up on Sunday. It's a whopping £100,000. Given that many players in our side must have cup win bonuses then it's fucking cost us money to win the cunting thing.
Gemmill 50592
A special shout out to the little cunt Paul Scholes who couldn't resist a "You've won the League Cup! We used to try and get knocked out of that competition". Mind it was in response to our dickhead professional fanfluencer in attendance on the Overlap who asked the panel if Eddie Howe and Dan Burn should have statues built. I mean wtf, maybe it's him that needs the dressing down, and not Scholes.

My best mate who I went everywhere with died of cancer just after the start of the pandemic. My tears on Sunday included quite a few for him. His famous response to the shit around the Saudis at the time of the takeover was "I wouldn't care if we were owned by Hitler if it meant winning something". Just thinking it was when we were first linked with them not after it happened. Edited 7 hours ago by NJS
Dr Gloom 23795
another takeaway from rewatching the match sober last night that i forgot to mention in my earlier post: slot completely fucked it. he just kept throwing on attacking players; liverpool completely lost their shape as a result and we played through them in the second half with ease. he even threw VVD up front towards the end. it felt like panic stations from manager who may well turn out to be a tad overrated. is it too soon to suggest that liverpool are winning the title this year in part because the rest of the league is a bit shit? or maybe because the midtable teams are more competitive and they're the one side that has managed to convert draws into victories, despite not always playing that well. i think if you take TAA and Salah out of that side, which may well happen next season, they might look quite ordinary.
Gemmill 50592
Aye Slot reminded me of McClaren when Boro kept spawning their way through rounds of the UEFA Cup (or whatever comp it was). He just kept hoying on anyone vaguely attacking and hoping for the best. Howe completely out managed Slot in the final, and Arteta in the two legs of the semi. Makes me really confident of what he could do with a squad that actually had some money spent on it, cos he's already a better coach than these others imo.
Gemmill 50592
That fat cunt Gab Marcotti. I watched a bit of his podcast with his French mate yesterday. Marcotti declared himself early on as "not an Eddie Howe guy", OK you're a fucking idiot, and then the two of them went on to talk about Isak as if it was just completely absurd for anyone to think that he could now stay at Newcastle. Oh and also Newcastle are ridiculous if they think anyone should pay over 100m for him. Marcotti sweating in a big fleece cos he doesn't want to take it off and be seen in just a t shirt on camera, the fat prick.

No fucker was talking about it two weeks after it happened in 2018. They talked about it a lot when Saudi Arabia bought NUFC three years later. Then they didn’t. Again. Was anyone on this board unaware that Saudi Arabia is a repulsive evil theocracy without even the most basic human rights in 2018 or in 2021? We’ve bought their oil since WW2 sold them arms so they could fight Iran in their 1500 year old Sunni v Shia war and the UK government of the day facilitated the sale of NUFC to them. Am not sure what power we held as a fanbase in the face of all that. It doesn’t sit well with me, I still contribute a pittance to unicef and TEAR fund for the victims of the war in Yemen. @Howmanheyman just listened to that pod you mentioned earlier, Alison Rudd is the type of person @Alex was talking about when it comes to hypocrites. They haven’t ruined anything for me and they’re the only people who think Saudi ownership tarnishes in any way what happened on Sunday Man Utd sponsored directly by Saudi Arabia. Miguel: Qatar host the world cup, and Miguel Delaney: (He went by the way, on Qatari coin. Not a peep). NUFC do anything: "Bad craic lads, what about Khashoggi?" 4

Is there a question that reads: “sports washing, does it really exist in any quantifiable way? Discuss” because I can briefly tell you that it fuckin doesn’t and it only exists in the minds of half a dozen journalists who want football supporters to answer for the crimes of entire countries but not the likes of UK governments who sell them arms and buy their oil 4

Carragher I can get to an extent - a boyhood Liverpool fan, who only ever played for Liverpool mightn't be the best person to have as a pundit on a cup final that Liverpool lost. Especially, if you're planning on having that pundit conduct the interviews with the opposing team after the match . He gave us our flowers directly after full time by saying we didn't just beat them, we battered them. They should have turned the mic off after that though.
