I'm a fairly regular match goer and not once seen a fan in a tea towel etc. It must have happened very occasionally because there are photos, but its definitely not a remotely common thing (must be <0.01%). Also I'd say there's not been a greater feeling of local pride since the Keegan days. If this is what Sports washing is, I'm not losing any sleep over it.

Sports washing is working because no one is talking about Kashoggis murder any more according to Delaney. No fucker was talking about it two weeks after it happened in 2018.  They talked about it a lot when Saudi Arabia bought NUFC three  years later. Then they didn’t. Again.

 

 

Was anyone on this board unaware that Saudi Arabia is a repulsive evil theocracy without even the most basic human rights in 2018 or in 2021? We’ve bought their oil since WW2 sold them arms so they could fight Iran in their 1500 year old Sunni v Shia war and the UK government of the day facilitated the sale of NUFC to them. Am not sure what power we held as a fanbase in the face of all that. It doesn’t sit well with me, I still contribute a pittance to unicef and TEAR fund for the victims of the war in Yemen. @Howmanheyman just listened to that pod you mentioned earlier, Alison Rudd is the type of person @Alex was talking about when it comes to hypocrites. They haven’t ruined anything for me and they’re the only people who think Saudi ownership tarnishes in any way what happened on Sunday

Watched the VR stuff last night, it is absolute class, if you don't have a kit then find a way to see it. 

 

The goals, the trophy lift (you are right there in front of Bruno, Trips, Gordon and can hear their conversations) and the party in the dressing room - all great to see in this format.  

 

I must've watched the goals about 30 times each, two of the best goals we have scored this season, absolutely perfect timing.  Toying with coming up on the 29th so I can see the bus from half a mile away and pay £25 for parking.

The sheer enormity of what we achieved on Sunday is only just starting to land with me. It’s not just WHAT we did, it’s the manner in which we did it to get the monkey off our back that fills me with unmeasurable pride and emotion.

 

- Beat the clubs in the top 4 English places.

- Played the runaway league leaders in the final.

- Ended this 70 year / 56 year hex.

- Very much put to bed the argument that NUFC don’t turn up to finals.

- Did it without Gordon, Botman & Hall.

 

Any mitigation contrary fuckers could use to diminish what was achieved, we have an answer for. We didn’t win this through circumstance; we won it because we deserved it.

 

It might sound trite to say so but I think it is a natural thing to think back to those you’ve lost at times like this. When I was stood there at Wembley on Sunday watching my club running round the pitch like I’ve enviously witnesses dozens and dozens of other clubs do so in the 40 years I’ve supported this club made

me think of my Grandad who I lost in 1991, my Nan who I lost in 1996 and my Mam who I lost in 1997. All of them were forever willing NUFC to win something to put a smile on my face. So yeah, when that finally happened I looked up, pointed up and quietly said “we’ve done it at last!”

 

This fucking club, man. It’s a privilege and a curse wrapped together to support it, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Aye, my first thought afterwards (and during) was of my uncle in Sweden, who was as big a fan as almost any of us. Back in the days before satellite/cable TV, he used to crack open a couple of Brown Ales purchased at no small cost from the government-owned liquor store and "watch" our matches on Swedish TV's teletext. He was very good at English swearing and he'd have no doubt texted me saying he was "over the fucking moon" or something.
