Taking away the outcome and the way we played pretty average, I actually enjoyed the game yesterday. Was a proper cup-tie. Not a lot in it, could have went either way, a bit of drama. I'll be avoiding the rest of the FA Cup from here until the end though, not sure what would be worse, City winning it again or a club who we are in and around the league with like Fulham, Brighton, Bournemouth or Villa winning it.

IMO Isak is gone in summer.  The kind of money we have to spend to overhaul the squad is far too much for one summer window.  We don't have that. Isak is one of the best players I have ever seen in black and white and he deserves to be playing for a top top club.  We have to be honest.  We aren't that club.  

 

We need to sack off the LC next season as a target. It causes too much tress on the squad at a crucial part of the season.

Quite literally no club that needs a striker can afford him unless he goes to Saudi which he won’t.

 

If he doesn’t agitate for a move to bring the price down a bit, which he might the you never know, he’s not going anywhere.

 

With the way club finances are nowadays, players like Isak dont just go on the market and move.

It would be harsh to get rid of Howe but if it happens Mitchell had better make sure whoever replaces him is demonstrably better. And there’s no guarantees with that. He may view it as a good time to have a significant clear out given this apparent whopping pot of money we have to spend and bring his own man in. There’s nothing to fear in the right man (look at that cunt at Liverpool, lots saying at the end of last season that their rebuild had failed) but changing coach and a significant amount of players at the same time is very tricky indeed…

I suspect you’re right. He’s the most coveted striker in Europe. If we miss out on Europe and Liverpool or Real express an interest he’s going to be tempted. If he then agitates for a move we probably end up selling at a reduced price. Still north of £100m but the player holds the cards if we miss out on CL football.

 

So there’s still loads to play for this season. If we lose to Liverpool, as seems inevitable, there is still a lot at stake. It’s just such a shame Howe hasn’t been backed. Whether you blame Amanda and co for that, or Mitchell, or Howe himself, the transfer strategy this year hasn’t been fit for purpose. And it’s a shame Howe could be the one forced to pay the price if the season fizzles out.

I don’t think it is time to hit the panic button given the circumstances but we have to be realistic. If we finish lower than we did last season and miss out on the cup, as seems possible, it could be curtains for Howe. That’s football

@wykikitoon final reply on your point about us not being that club yet: we could and arguably should be that club four years into the takeover. But the cartel and their bullshit rules have almost certainly stopped us doing it in the timeframe needed to hang on to Isak, unless Howe performs another miracle. It’s so bloody annoying.

it absolutely shouldn’t be but you never know. He is top 3 managers of my lifetime. If you don’t invest then you don’t  improve. If Big Mitch starts feeling the pressure when the summer transfer window goes tits up then he’ll without doubt sacrifice Howe to the Saudis to save his big, scruffy arse.

Aye, I just think we were the ones to take a gamble on Isak when others wouldn't.  I just think he is class. If he goes for £100m+ It eases it a bit, but hopefully its abroad.  If he goes to the dippers for less than that I'll be finished with football tbh  Its these bull shit cartel rules that fucking ruin it.

i agree, when you look at the prices players have gone for recently. if he pushes for a move, liverpool or someone could get him for £120m rather than the £150m price mooted earlier.
