We're 4 points off 3rd. Loads to play for in the league, and being out of the FA Cup should focus minds. Probably does us a favour in the league.

It's the performances and the massive drop off the likes of Schar Wilson and Willock are exhibiting that's disappointing. Barnes too

We've got zero quality or ideas in the final third without Gordon, barring a moment of Isak magic and knowing our luck he'll be crocked for the final.

I don't blame the players. Howe has got them over performing massively when in reality many are mid table standard and winning cups or finishing 4th just seems a level too high right now imo. I'm honestly not having a knee jerk. It's a compliment that this squad managed to put themselves in this position another season but they're running the course now.

The teams around us look more composed, more energetic and just more competent all around. Difficult to see us finishing CL places unless Howe works up another miracle. This phase of the evolution is ending. Up to the club to back him this summer now.

@GrahamTaylor5 yes that's a better way of putting it.

The amount of times over the years where we've managed to self-inflict a worse outcome than a loss...

The timing is always perfect too  biggest game in possibly decades coming up? Time for half the squad to drop into their worst form for years and someone to completely lose their head and get sent off. Every freaking time.

I look at that and think there's plenty points left to be had. We're not suddenly shit, we're just in a bad run. It's not that long ago we won 9 on the spin including some pretty tough away fixtures.

Most of those fixtures are the types we've absolutely bottled the whole season, mid table sides at home etc. Even before we went on the brilliant run. My concern is the run was a brilliant flash in the pan in an otherwise mediocre season.

Hall out for a while per rumors? Just typical.

Call it all off then. All hope is lost. 10th, here we come.

it could go either way. It’s been that kind of season. We could finish 4th or 10th.

The cup final is the game that matters. Win that and it’s a triumph of a season whatever happens next

As positive as I am about what we can do with the remaining league games, if we had a fixture v Liverpool among them, I'd be expecting us to get zero points. It's a huge ask to beat them in the final.

Anything can happen in a one off game etc, but we know what usually happens when we play them, and what usually happens when we play in finals, and that's probably what will happen again.

I have very little expectation for a positive outcome.

I don’t really see alarm bells ringing after that. Brighton are bang in form and that could have easily gone either way today with the two goals ruled out.

Big Joe is back and it sounds like Botman may be back for the cup final. Gordon will be a loss but he hasn’t been brilliant recently.

It’s a shame to go out but I just hope someone other than Man City wins it.

We have blown a good opportunity, but if we have a big summer we'll be in with a much better chance next year. And an even better chance the year after that. We're not a club that can only get to finals once every 30 years anymore.

Agree. We have to accept slow progress. The last couple of weeks, maybe even the last two season demonstrate that we are still lacking depth and quality in the squad. We can’t cope with injuries or mental and physical fatigue of the core of the squad.  As we cannot buy our way to success like other teams did in the past it is all about enjoying being on the verge of competing. We are still close enough to success. Two cup finals and progressing well in most competitions is worth something in itself.

Despite my MASSIVE penis and HUGE biceps, I have very little expectation for a positive outcome.

My other boys Birthday party today so missed the game.

i haven’t seen the highlights but sounds like Gordon has fucked any last hope of winning the cup. An out of form Harvey Barnes is our only hope of filling his spot.  We might as well give him 90 minutes v West Ham on the left to try and get the rust out.

Edit: Actually, maybe Eddie will go with Big and Little Joe on the left hand side and leave Barnes on the bench in the final.

Even Gordon’s form has dropped off lately. He was bobbins today and his red card was the icing on the cake
