Is it mental fatigue as well as physical after two hard cup games? I just hope to God we didn't use our 2 "cup final performances" up against Arsenal. We looked massively up for those games. We need the same energy in the final. I'll be gutted if we play like we did in the last one where we barely laid a glove on a poor Man U side

Battle for the second balls, press then with energy, get in their faces. Try and impose our way or playing on them. That’s all you ask for and then if we lose to the better team, fair fucks. We failed to turn up for the last three trips to Wembley tbh. No disgrace losing to Liverpool in the final but it’ll be too depressing/predictable if we play like we did yesterday.

I agree that it was the worst performance of the season - possibly even if Howe’s reign. Losing there was no big shock but the performance was. We didn’t compete, which isn’t something you could level at the players since Howe has been in charge. I can’t explain that performance - really hope/expect a big reaction at home against forest because it wasn’t good enough. You’re going to lose games in the PL. We’ve no divine right to win but you have to put a shift in and there was a noticeable lack of effort on Saturday.
Dr Gloom 23385 Posted Monday at 09:00 Share Posted Monday at 09:00 I’ll caveat that by saying I’m a massive fan of Howe and everything he’s done in his three and a bit seasons. Makes that no show of a performance all the more baffling/frustrating. Bruno’s post-match interview was honest and illuminating. But he needs to look at his own performance and fix it. As do all the players tbh - even Tonali, who has been flawless for months. We can say it was a blip if they respond in the right way against forest. We saw how good we can be against Arsenal. If we don’t put in that kind of effort every week, we can forget about top 5.

I thank Nico Gonzalez for the improvement in possession. He's supposedly more of an 8 than a 6 so i expect him to be a 6 this season and replace Gundogan as an 8 next season. Rodri and Nico together just might be awesome. Time will tell. I thank Marmoush for the new cutting edge. I thank the pace of Khusanov for tightening up the rear line. He helped Stones be Stones. Khusanov was clocked at 37km last season in France. That is Spur's Van De Ven pace. And finally, if i'm honest, i thank the linesman.

I’m not trying to take anything away from your lot. I was optimistic ahead of the game but tbh wouldn’t have been surprised if we had lost. Our record at your place stinks and you have a much better squad than us despite your patchy form this season. But that doesn’t mask the apparent lack of effort on our part. The least you expect from an Eddie Howe team is to make it difficult for the opposition. We expect our players to battle for the second balls even when we are being outplayed. That was completely absent on Saturday. It was a throwback to the Mike Ashley era.

This won't help but we're all excited about a young lad on his way over from Argentina now. Claudio Echeverri highlights We signed him January 2024 but let him stay to develop He has just starred for Argentina wearing the coveted number 10 shirt in the South American U20 tournament. We rate him in the Julian Alvarez bracket, although he's much more Messi like. Claudio Echeverri is considered a highly promising young talent with exceptional dribbling skills, creativity, and a strong finishing ability, often drawing comparisons to Lionel Messi due to his playing style; he is widely regarded as one of the most exciting prospects in South American football, currently on loan from Manchester City after making a name for himself at River Plate, where he earned the nickname "El Diablito" (the little devil) for his agility and trickery on the pitch. Strengths: Excellent ball control, quick feet, sharp passing, unpredictable movement, capable of playing in multiple attacking positions, strong finishing. Playing style: Often compared to Messi due to his low center of gravity, close control, and ability to create space with dribbling.
