The Saudi's can build stadiums in 6 weeks with minimal casualties from foreign labour. They just need to petition the UK government to relax the health and safety regulations around the build.

Point of order.

Good health and safety doesn’t slow down construction, it speeds up it through proper planning.

Season 4 Success GIF by The Office

Was working on a job recently where we had a pre-tender DTM.  We were talking about construction sequence and planning it.  The client was there and is fully buying into it.  He's an analytical guy.  Meanwhile MEP were moaning about it.  MEP guys have now been sacked off the job

There is some rather big ducts that are required in the ground coming into the building from another building on site.  We were talking about phasing of the construction for this part and how to keep a part of the site open to get materials in and out.  MEP guy 'just put some fucking planks over it will be reyt, I've got to get back for another meeting'

Daft cunt  see ya!

Where  are they proposing we play for a season when the Leazes gets swallowed up? We don’t have a world class ground 6 miles away as Spurs did :cuppa:

My understanding was (and I could be wrong) they build 3/4 or so of new stadium we then move in and start playing, then they demolish Leazes end and build the last end on new stadium then complete the demolition of St James’s

That foot print on the satellite thing looks suspiciously small, surely a new decently sized ground would take up much more room ie more of Leazes park and more of the SJP present area.

Someone over on NO was on about how the proposed idea was to make it taller than the present ground?

Well aye but even so, it would affect any transition between old and new which is up for discussion.

I mean disruption to SJP and or the land encroachment to Leazes Park would be greatly increased.

I just think it gives a false impression and some people are basing thoughts on it

Well we must have zero fucking health and safety in the UK cos it takes decades to build a public patio here.

You need to get MF round, mate. I’ve never seen a patio built so quickly. 10ft foundations and everything.

I dont think the fields at the top are officially part of Leazes Park (looking at the blueprints I posted in the top post)

it’s officially part of the town moor isn’t it? Back in 1997 they had allotments where it met Barrack Road which I seem to recall the majority of the protestation was about.

As for what to do with the existing footprint, make it a green-ish space but combine it to make it a world-class fan zone

Incorrect, it takes decades because of poor workmanship (your problem for not vetting your contractors). Or it takes ages to get through planning, due to Tory cuts to planning departments.

Like I said (and construction professionals agreed) GOOD H&S makes construction quicker, bad H&S I have no idea about cos I’m good at my job.

Actually, taken offence to this. The UK is one of the safest places to work in the world, because of the health and safety legislation in place and the well trained and professional experts in the field. If work is slow is because of health and safety it probably means the work shouldn’t be done or the budget is too low.

I personally wouldn’t dare to say to the pharmaceutical industry is doing something wrong because, I know nowt. Ring a bell?

I think Renton is just bouncing off your statement about H&S speeding things up, and saying that because everything we build here is done so slowly, we must therefore have no H&S  Not that H&S slows things down.

I was joking mate. Infrastructure does take too long here but that's not down to H&S. Nimbyism, planning regs, political incompetence. My wife was an industrial claims solicitor so I know the importance of it.

Newcastle through to a cup final and some lads decide to celebrate it by discussing the merits of Health and Safety in the construction industry.

Has anyone put their finger on why we don't attract new members to Toontastic?
