Newcastle United vs Bournemouth

That is the exact type of game you want Pope in the sticks. So exposed through balls down the channel and over the top.

Felt we were in for a tough game today but that was horrendous & has once again exposed our frailties and small squad. They're missing tons of players but Gordon, Murphy, both full backs and Bruno miles off it - couldn't replace any.

Still feel changes can be made in game in respect of formation and tactics.

What a shit Saturday.

Totally deserved result, even without the ref assisting them they were heads and shoulders above us. Too many games for the same players to keep backing up in for us, you could tell from the very start. One to immediately forget and move on from. Have a good rest this week and get hungry for redemption against Southampton.

Poor really, as good as Bournemouth were. Think 2-1 defeat would have been a more fair reflection but Howe obviously went for it in the end which I guess you'd always want him to do.

But we did seem tired honestly. So many loose and wasted balls, so sloppy. Tonali was good but that's about it really.

Hopefully that brings us back down to earth a bit and we can just get on with playing again without fussing about records and being the form team etc.

Shocking performance. Very much like the forest game last season at home.

Awful by Dan Burn for that third goal but only in that scenario following two horseshit simple passes gone amiss from Trippier then Gordon.

Eddie lost on ideas from the very beginning. Simply refuses to make changes when it's clearly going wrong in game. What the fuck is Osula going to do in 5 minutes?

That's the worst I've seen us play since Palace away, when we created absolutely nothing and were battered.

Only player that looked remotely interested today was Tonali.

Fucking awful.

Well done Bournemouth again, continuing to outsmart us.

we can blame the defensive mistakes that led to goals. Bruno’s in particular was a howler but Bournemouth had our number today.

Their press was as good as I’ve seen from any opponent this season and we had no answers. They didn’t give our defence or midfield a second to play out and they boxed Tonali in at every opportunity, forcing mistakes when we tried to play out. I thought surely they can’t keep this up for 90 minutes but we were the side that looked ragged second half. I can’t remember the last time we were so beaten so emphatically

@Dazzler thanks for your prior efforts but you've let everybody down massively here and your service is no longer required.

big call.

Everyone has a bad day in the office. i think he’s earned a shot at redemption before anyone gets any funny ideas and starts the next match thread.

I agree. @Dazzler we've realised that noone here knows what we're doing and we do require your service after all.

I don't buy the tiredness excuse. Yes it's two games in three days but they're the ones with the injury crisis and they're the ones that have travelled all over this week.

A bad result was due honestly and they deserved it. But it's the manner of the defeat that's galling. There was not one good thing about that performance, not one player that turned up except maybe Tonali. When you're in such great form players are oozing confidence, to suddenly go from that to this is a bit worrying because that's the kind of thing you cut out to progress to the next level.

Everyone played shite but Bruno, Gordon, Hall and Burn were so half measured at times you honestly wondered what they're thinking. Bournemouth made it clear from the start they meant business and we just didn't wake up.

Need to dust this off now and get some of the confidence back before the league cup game.
