I wonder if Sky will build this one up as Champions League chasers versus a team hovering above the drop zone ??

It'll be all about 1996, the twelve point lead and 'Yewnighted' hunting us down where a shy Roy Keane will tell the presenter it's old news and nobody is interested anymore. They might have a token NUFC player in from that era to rub his nose in it whilst praying they can rub the current NUFC players noses in it by a 'Yewnighted' victory. If we win then it'll be a full on post mortem with concerned faces about what is going wrong at 'yewnighted' with NUFC being a complete afterthought.

The easy ride Amorim is getting btw. I actually think he does need time cos they're a bit of a mess, but compare their plight to when Howe turned up here, and it's a million miles apart.

They shouldn't have lost 4 of his first 5 PL games but they have, and because the club has so many media mates it's basically just fine.

Laugh how the blame is on the players for not being good enough to play in his “system” Well, why not try a system that fits the players and why hire a manager who is so incompatible with the players he has?

I mean I know you should never take owt for granted, as well as us having 70 years of failing to take our opportunities, however if you fancy a little chuckle at 2 pages of them almost unanimously throwing the towel in, this makes glorious reading....

He was vastly overrated last year. He scored a couple of good goals v Liverpool and Wolves but didn’t look any where near an international player. The Man  Utd midfield got overrun basically every game I saw last season.

Apparently his stats are shit as well.

12 games. No goals and assists.

He did score the winner in the FA cup final too tbf to him and whenever he got on for England I've thought he's looked decent.

He's still a kid though and playing in a midfield alongside the reanimated corpse of Casemiro, a lazy, petulant goofy cunt or a Danish fella who literally died a few years back - so I don't think it's all on him in that respect.

But aye, he's not as good as the media hyped him up to be.

The way people went on about him 6 month ago, you would have been mistaken for thinking he was the next Jack Clarke. He's decent for his age, and is currently horribly exposed playing at a club with that profile and in that much bother.

There's another 10 PL clubs he'd have a better chance of building a career at, which is a pretty sad indictment of the current state of that lot.

I just think on NYE everybody should raise a glass to Jim Ratcliffe, Dave Brailsford, and the sadly departed Eric Ten Hag for the entertainment they've provided in the last 12 months, and the entertainment they're sure to continue providing in 2025.

It’s completely bonkers that in this age of PSR a club would appoint a manager who can only play one system, seemingly on the understanding that they’ll buy him a whole load of new players in the first transfer window. Maybe they’ve got loads of PSR headroom, I wouldn’t know, but still seems like a bizarre way to run a football club.

Anyway, nice to be going into this one with so many players on top form. Great chance to beat these on their own patch, haven’t done it in the league for ages.

They haven't got a load of PSR headroom, I don't think. The Man United journos at the Athletic were talking about them being quite tight up against it now after putting all their eggs in the Dutch Genius's basket.

They've got saleable assets though. If they got rid of Rashford for decent money, that would be all profit.

It would be, but I stand by my previous post that they have to find a buyer and he will need to take a massive pay drop.

I think an additional problem ManU will face (at least I hope so) is that the aura that has previously surrounded even their fringe players has disappeared. They have an assortment of old and young shit on inflated wages.

As for Rashford, is Saudi the only option to sell him? Hopefully he rots there because ManU being unable to manufacture a way around PSR would see it changed almost overnight.

It depends on how many hotels Chelsea’s owner has left to financially engineer for yet another winger.

Will be interesting to see how they manage it, unless the Saudis come to their rescue. They don’t have many players I’d be happy us spending 30+ million on.

Isn't Rashford on something like £350kpw?

Which means they either sell him for peanuts so the buying club can afford his wages, or them try to convince him to move to the Saudi league. They've got a load of dross on silly wages that no other clubs can afford to match
