wykikitoon 20341 Posted Saturday at 20:31 Share Posted Saturday at 20:31 For me, Eddie needs to make some tough decisions and stop this trying to be pals with some players. Gordon on the right needs to stop. Get him back on the left. Joelinton has played well on the left, but its at the determinant to Gordon who last season on the left was our best player. So why fucking change it? Miggy, as frustrating as fuck he is, get him back in, or they MUST back Eddie in Jan and sell Pob on. Is he doing this to try and get Willock in now he's fit? I don't know. Barnes last two games he's come on has been fucking garbage. I thought Sandro was a lot better today deeper. Howe needs to be unpopular, if that means telling Willock he's not playing, so be it. If that means Gordon he's benched, so be it. If it means Bruno is benched so be it. But something needs to be done. But sack him? GTFO

Christmas Tree 4748 Posted Saturday at 22:48 Share Posted Saturday at 22:48 First of all, it’s probably always going to be hard to have any bad feelings about Eddie for a few reasons. 1. What went before him 2. He was part of the “good times” - Takeover, Amanda and getting vast improvements from players. 3. He’s been “successful” in getting us to a cup final, CL and the way we played that season. Sure, we could have with better signings. Most clubs will say the same. What I find perplexing is that we very rarely seem to have a plan B. I’m not fully convinced he has that elite level knowledge to be able change things up. No reason he should have really as he has never been elite. And this will probably be how he goes. At some point our owners will find the allure of a “top” coach, too much to resist. He hasn’t been helped by top players not delivering week in, week out. How often do Gordon, Isak or even Bruno perform like we know they can? I don’t know why that is, but the Manager should know and should be able to put it right. All that said and a win at home to West Ham and holding out for two more minutes today and we would be sitting 3rd not entertaining such crappy thoughts. And that in a nutshell is football

That excuse is starting to wear thin. Other than City or Liverpool that bench is better than most in the league. Osula at £15mil is baffling given he can't even get a game when our only other fit striker gets injured. Look at the history and we would say it has worked. Bruno didn't get in ahead of Shevley as he wasn't ready. Hall didn't get in ahead of Burn. I think there will be a time and I think his decisions have worked out well on the whole. LongTimeAdmirer 1269 Posted Sunday at 06:38 Author Share Posted Sunday at 06:38 First off, to those posters dismissing any criticism of Eddie Howe as trolling or attention-seeking—give it a rest. I’ve probably got more football knowledge in my clit than your collective brains, which happen to have the IQ of room temperature. If you can’t comprehend the concept that other people might think differently, that’s a you problem. And before you act like I’m the only one saying this, feel free to check Reddit, R/NUFC, Twitter, or any other NUFC forums—there are plenty of fans who’ve run out of patience with Eddie too. Now, onto the actual issues. (FOR THE REAL ONES) It’s undeniable that performances have gone downhill. For the last 18 months, things have gotten worse instead of better. It’s been a year now where we’ve failed to string together consistent good performances. Compare that to the 18 months before, and it’s night and day. And don’t even try to tell me he hasn’t been backed in the transfer market—he’s had hundreds of millions. This summer, the club spun some nonsense about how “only a few players can improve us.” Yet we wasted the entire window chasing Marc Guéhi at a ridiculous price, refused to budge, and ended up with nothing. That’s on Howe. His refusal to compromise and adapt hurt us in the market. The squad has gaps, and that’s directly tied to his decision-making. Then there are the internal issues. Bust-ups with Dan Ashworth and Darren Mitchell? It’s like he doesn’t understand that this isn’t Bournemouth anymore. Newcastle is trying to operate like a top club, and he needs to get on board with that. Add in the rumored England job threats—it’s disgraceful behavior from someone who should be focused on the club. Howe’s ego and power plays this summer were embarrassing, and they cost us when we needed reinforcements most. Now let’s talk tactics; Howe’s Tactical Blueprint Is Too Predictable Eddie’s system has always been built around pressing high, winning the ball back quickly, and transitioning into attack with pace. For a while, it worked brilliantly. Teams couldn’t handle our energy, and we thrived off chaos. But here’s the problem: it’s a one-trick pony. Opposition teams have figured out how to neutralize us by sitting deep, staying compact, and forcing us to break them down. And when that happens, we’re completely toothless. No Plan B We’ve seen it time and time again this season: teams park the bus, we dominate possession, but we lack the tools to break them down. There’s no creativity, no movement in the final third, and no alternative approach. Eddie has failed to adapt the system to give us a Plan B. Always the same farken subs too man. right on the 60th minute. Lack of a Creative Playmaker Our midfield is flat and functional, but it lacks a proper #10. There’s nobody playing cute passes behind Isak or Wilson, who can operate in tight spaces, spot a pass, or pull defenders out of position. Without that creativity, our attacks are predictable and easy to defend against. Ineffective Wingers Our wingers—Gordon, Barnes, Joelinton—are not the kind of players who can consistently beat defenders one-on-one or create moments of magic out wide. They’re players who need space to run into, and when teams sit deep, they’re ineffective. We’ve seen this repeatedly against teams who defend in low blocks. Predictable Patterns of Play Our attacking moves are overly rehearsed and predictable. The ball goes wide, a hopeful cross comes in, and the defenders clear it. Rinse and repeat. There’s no variety in our approach, and we rarely try anything unexpected to break teams down. Isak and Wilson Starved of Service Whether it’s Isak or Wilson leading the line (Mainly Iasak this season) neither is getting the service they need. They’re left isolated up top, feeding off scraps because the midfield isn’t providing them with anything meaningful. This idea that were probably not going to see Osula until March or next season because Eddie wont budge on giving new players minutes, is wild. How do we expect to break teams down when we’re so predictable and toothless in attack? Eddie is meant to be an attacking coach, this is on him and his staff over the last 18 months. What are they working on in training? Why is there no progression in our attacking play? We’ve gone backwards. Eddie and his staff were hailed for their ability to develop players and make the team greater than the sum of its parts, but that’s just not happening anymore. The blame lies squarely with them. At this point, the "attacking coach" label feels more like a myth than a reality. If he can’t deliver on the one thing he’s supposed to specialize in, then serious questions need to be asked. Lastly, Eddie’s comments after the Palace game were the final straw for me. If he genuinely thinks that performance was “decent,” we’re in big trouble. He sounds like a manager trying to cling to his job, and it’s not working. At this point, it’s hard to see him lasting beyond Christmas. The decline is obvious, the squad isn’t being utilized properly, and his approach is alienating key people at the club. He did a great job stabilizing us and taking us to the next level initially, but he’s not the man to push us forward anymore. 1
Kid Dynamite 7076 Posted Sunday at 06:50 Share Posted Sunday at 06:50 My main concern is the grumbles about Howe are very similar to the ones Bournemouth fans had before he left them. Rigid thinking, favourite players, no Plan B. Even if we didn't go for a big name manager after Howe leaves, the likes of Maresca, Iraola and Thomas Frank somehow manage to get much worse players than we have playing much better football. There are options out there

Gemmill 45253 Posted Sunday at 07:11 Share Posted Sunday at 07:11 I personally would give him the next two windows and next season to sort it. The summer window was a fucking joke and we had the problems that we're seeing this season, last season, so we really needed to strengthen and didn't. It should be no surprise to anyone that things haven't improved when the tools at hand haven't been improved and are a year older. There are still Ashley players on the bench. And as much as Howe got a tune out of them for a short period when we were riding the crest of a wave, those players wouldn't get a regular game in most of the rest of the division, never mind the top 4 to 6. They're fucking shit. Achieving CL so early with the squad he did it with has completely distorted expectations. I'm not saying that we shouldn't be doing better than we are now, but we REALLY can't be sitting back and expecting CL with this squad. It cannot compete with Man City, Liverpool, Spurs, Villa, Arsenal over 38 games. We're basically hoping for another minor miracle season, except now we're no longer hoping, we're expecting and demanding. If we get rid of Howe, we're gonna end up on a managerial merry go round. That's one of the main reasons I don't want him to go. He's fully committed here, he's a very good coach, and there's been a load of flux at the club. He needs more time and the actual investment to deliver on the expectations (entitlement?) that the fans now have. As for LTA, let this be a lesson to you: if you turn up and act the wind up merchant 95% of the time, you might just get dismissed on the occasion when you actually think you've got something to say. 2
Gemmill 45253 Posted Sunday at 07:13 Share Posted Sunday at 07:13 The squad and our inability to improve it quickly enough is a HUGE part of the problem here. That doesn't go away if you change the manager. We can't just appoint a new bloke and go "OK, now YOU get us into the CL with Murphy and Almiron as your two main gamechangers on the bench." Holden McGroin 6647 Posted Sunday at 07:32 Share Posted Sunday at 07:32 Howe has done a magnificent job and deserves some slack when going through a rough patch - especially from a problem not of his own making. Other clubs spend hours upon hours investigating other teams tactics and players - so when we don’t freshen the squad up they will work out how to get at us. I think expectations need to be re-aligned as well. When the Saudis took over we thought it would be a ticket to glory. PSR means we might never compete with the top teams consistently. Sobering thought.

That’s on Howe. Forgive me for questioning your clit, but how the fuck do you come to this conclusion? Howe says which players he’d like. That’s pretty much it, from him. I very much doubt he had much involvement in the actual negotiations between clubs over the price, so I fail to see how he’s responsible? Most of the problems we seem to be having on the field can be laid at the door of the club not being willing/able to replace the Ashley era players with quality. Yes, I’m frustrated at times when he seems reluctant to change players during a match, but we don’t really have a squad of equals as far as bench players are concerned. Again, not his fault. Sacking Howe now or at the end of the season would solve the square root of fuck-all. You’d be looking for his replacement, most of the coaching and technical team he brought in, you’d likely piss-off many of the players, and, transfer-wise, it’d be a leap backwards, since whoever you got to replace him would want rid of certain players that would otherwise not be on the transfer market. You’d also raise a considerable stink amongst fans, the actual ones who live locally and go to games. For every gobshite on Reddit, X , and The other place, there’s 2-3 who don’t bother with online yappery who are happy with Howe and wouldn’t want to see him go. ( I’m assuming you’ll see this, since you’ve clearly “unblocked” me judging by your strop above ).

The disconnect between what we need to spend to get to where we want to be, and what we're being allowed to spend, is HUGE. I think that first season dropping out of the PSR calc will allow us to have a window or two on a par with those first couple of windows, which would give us a massive boost. I think it would be criminal to not give Howe the opportunity to benefit from. That
