I'm now about the age LeazesMag was when I started posting.

LM was positively pleasent compared with that fucking psycho HTL though. Did you ever get that pint Alex?

It was a bit of a running joke. Iirc, it was in large part down to Leazes being his usual mental self whereby Souness was the worst manager in the history of, erm, history. And at the same time the board were absolutely defended to the hilt over just about everything. Including appointing him as manager. Off the back of it Gemmill earned a reputation as being a lover of the ‘Scottish Fuckpig’ as I think Leazes called Souness. A fair bit of it was Gemmill winding Leazes up after the odd decent result. It was difficult to have any sort of nuanced discussion about anything ti do with the club at all. Mainly due to Leazes. Who believe it or not could be really interesting and insightful on the rare occasions he calmed the fuck down.

Somehow I'm now also wondering whatever became of @essembeeofsunderland. Not in the same league as leazes of course but I have to admit that I pay far less attention to Sunderland without him here.

I’ve rarely seen someone as much of a confidence player as Bramble. That’s not a good trait in a centre-half. At times he looked fucking brilliant for decent spells though.
I also remember him slagging off the fans here in some black magazine long after he’d left. Seem to remember him inferring he got stick due to colour of his skin. The cheeky, revisionist cunt was very well treated. Especially seeing as there was always another clanger round the corner

Bramble was at times tremendous but only when he was alongside Woodgate. You could litterally see Woodgate telling him what to do in specific situations and he'd be great. Same as Tripps and Miggy a couple of seasons ago. Woodgate before his injury was fucking mint. I'm still happy we got what we did for him tho as he was a busted flush at the end.

He just couldn’t handle it when BUJ7 became the fucking midfield animal he is and went off his meds.
Last seen living under a bridge near Washington.

You heard it here first, good and proper.

By the end (and we’ll before that) he was absolutely as you describe him. I’m not seeking to defend him. But when Robson was still manager, which was when I first started using message boards, he could be reasonable at times. I stress at times because there were certain topics where you just couldn’t have a discussion without him going ballistic.
He definitely had a tile or two missing off his roof like. On that message board him and Wacky ran that was deader than dead, he definitely used to reply to himself using different accounts.

What was it called again?
I wonder if it’s still going and he’s still talking to himself?

When I joined here, Leazes was already fully hatstand bonkers- was he reasonable and normal at first or was he tapped from the off?

Semi tapped.

He could be reasonable about a lot of things to do with football. Had a decent knowledge of the game, doubt he would have been an xG lover thought.

Hate the Shephard out talk and was a card carrying islamphobe, with a love for terrible music.

He and stevie (both called steve), had a bit of a bromance for ages.

I'm quite intrigued by leazes mag, he pre-dates me on here by some time, but there was a leazes mag back in the olden days on both the rivals talk of the tyne board and on skunkers and I think they were one and the same person. I met him once in the old union rooms, early 00s, shortish bloke with dark hair.

this sound plausible?

seemed canny enough to me!

Essembee is one of the greats. He went from an unhinged lunatic to a sage when (and only when) he spoke about Sunderland. Like an idiot savant for all things mackem.

Pretty sure that would be him. He fully lost his mind on here. Couldn't understand how holding the following two thoughts at the same time was contradictory:

"Souness is a terrible manager and should be sacked immediately",

and

"Freddy Shepherd is beyond reproach and should under no circumstances be criticised for anything."

Instead, Souness was thought largely to be my fault. That "Souness is THE MAN" thread title was almost certainly prime Leazes bait.

The SIMPLE QUESTION that was buried within a 10 paragraph rant, which was somewhere within a page-long quote pyramid. :lol:

I think that was his ploy to prove he wasn't racist, a bit like having a black friend.

I never knew that. I recall once waking up and the two of them overnight were drunkenly tag teaming me through PMs, trying to recruit me to "their side". I must have agreed with something they had said the previous day. In those days, predating me joining the Trent posse, its fair to say I was more antagonistic with the "younger" posters on here, including yourself, whereas as we all get older the relative age gap diminishes of course and also it became clear we all had the same basic perspectives. No way was I fucking being mates with those goons though.
