We need to be dropping balls over the top of defences that sit in against us, I'd argue that the runners for those balls are not showing like they have in recent seasons. I think we miss trippier’s leadership/organisation/technical ability. He was a calming influence on Schar because he was always a good option for him to play a short ball to. I think we miss how he used to link up with schar and Bruno down our right side, playing those little triangles to progress us up the pitch. Feels like Schar has given the ball away much more this season than the previous two

Celebrations are often individual and sometimes limited to 2/3 handshakes, a bit muted. Might be absolutely nothing but Ive thought it a few times this season… A brisk handshake should suffice after a goal unless it's against Man U, Liverpool, arsenal or the mackems then they can jump on hoardings or swing from the crossbar. I think yesterday the players paid the price in the first half for one definite individual howler from Barnes and one should do better moment from Hall and Joelinton. We could have been at least three or four goals ahead and looked dangerous but the second half we played as though the Liverpool game and effort eventually took it's toll on the players and then the subs, like West Ham, just made us look desperate and all over the shop. Disappointing end to a game I thought we looked like winning early on to one which we absolutely didn't as it went on. Feels like Schar has given the ball away much more this season than the previous two I was about to post something similar (after having already said it last weekend). We really do miss the pre-2023 Trippier who was just immense on the pitch in organising things and keeping a calm head. Making Bruno captain hasn’t really worked as I think it does restrict his appearance on the pitch. We do also lack a leader at the back who sorts out the disorganised defending. Even though the Trippier who came back from Qatar seems to be a different person I would probably reinstate him into the team right now.

Yeah we should just keep playing him because footballers never deteriorate with age.

Look at Schar in recent games, age definitely feels like it’s catching up to him as much as it did with Trips last season. The more this season goes on the more you can see why Howe was desperate for a right footed CB in the summer…and I love Schar so I don’t say this shit lightly.

Gemmill 45997
Same goes for the people moaning cos Osula isn't getting a chance. If Howe is going out of his way to avoid putting the kid on the pitch, I think we can assume there's a reason for that. He gave Miley and Anderson a chance, so he's not against youth if it's ready. I can't imagine why anyone would think they know better than the bloke who works with the kid every day.

Not to mention how long he held Hall out before he got meaningful minutes.

LongTimeAdmirer 1283
More goals conceded than score. Instead of pushing for Europe, we’re back to aiming for 40 points just to survive. This isn’t progress; it’s stagnation.

We are not in the slightest bit looking at trying to survive. We are not looking at Champions League but to say that we are looking to avoid the drop is on par with saying we are looking to win the league. Isegrim 9896
We are still just 8 points off second place. We played well enough in various matches this season (even in the first 45 mins yesterday) to win but ended up losing because of individual mistakes, lack of confidence and similar reasons. We can’t simply blame a lack of luck though. To suggest we are in a repeat of Brucey times and fighting for relegation because of our form is just utter nonsense. Things aren’t going our way and we have to do better on a lot of fronts. But people are seriously exaggerating things. Spoilt brats tbh.

LTA claims to have more football knowledge in their clit than most of this board, which is amply demonstrated in the post this referred to, since LTA is a 36yr old bloke called Ibrahim.

Spoilt brats tbh. 100% it’s far from the hopeless situation it was when the cabbage was in charge. Howe has galvanised this group of players before. We’re clearly underperforming and presume is building on him but I’ve seen enough in glimpses this season to think he can turn it around again. the league is so tight that if we can put a run of wins together well soon climb up the table. The truth is we massively overachieved when we finished 4th, raising expectations so Howe is a victim of his own success. 7-8th is about par when you look at at our overall squad value/wage bill. It’s been Howe’s first really bad run of results in three seasons. He’s earned our loyalty. It’s not time to push the panic button.
