If we revert to Miggy at RW it really underscores the failure to improve that position in the summer. We’re trying to engineer a move away for him in January. It would be a desperate move.

Bollocks. The value of Miggy got reduced on his obvious shortcomings. But his work rate when pressing and his tactical understanding of the game, especially with Trips behind him really never got the appreciation it deserved.

I seriously get the impression that people are watching a different kind of sport than me.

And it’s certainly not directed at Gloomy but reading some things here as well as on other places it looks like the spoilt brat brigade has taken over and there is no distinction to clubs where some fans think they are entitled to success.

It really does piss me off at the moment.

What is bollocks exactly? Genuine question

Let me break it down: there’s a reason Miggy has barely played for a season and a half. He’s been shit since we finished 4th (appalling via both the eye test and the lack of goal contributions) and Howe clearly doesn’t fancy him anymore. There are much better options in the squad at RW, despite the lack of depth in that position, and I’ll eat my hat if Miggy starts against Liverpool. What’s spoilt about that?

edit - that’s why I think we’re selling him in jan and why he’s unlikely to play many more minutes for us

I think ultimately there are players in our squad who could play regularly, who wouldn’t play for teams who regularly finish top 4.

Murphy, miggy, Kraft, lascelles, targett and longstaff (I don’t think longstaff is anywhere near as bad as some people make out), would barnes get a game at Chelsea for example? Even Wilson, he’s a great goal scorer with a massive asterix against him cos he can’t stay fit. They are hangovers from a different era imo.

All in all, it points to Howe doing a very good job imo. He has got a tune out of players who I don’t think are European quality players for 3 odd years (with the odd bad run). Class manager and fully back him to figure out this “bad” run too.

I was far too harsh. But the lack of appreciation what Miggy actually contributed to the team does really piss me off. It’s also why I think that people will be surprised that a new player on the right wing won’t be the magical solution.

I might’ve picked the wrong post to express my frustration but at the moment I am actually much more frustrated with the attitude of our fan base than the poor performances of the team.

i actually like Miggy. I was one of those who thought he earned a new contract after we finished 4th, hoping he would kick on under Howe, so it was all the more disappointing when he reverted to type.

He does have attributes. He executes the press better and faster than any of our forward players other than Gordon. He could actually be useful in this game for that if Gordon played on the left. But his offensive output has been awful for ages and I just don’t see Howe starting him. I think he’s off in January

Great post.

BTW I still have Miggy’s signed shirt that I drunkenly purchased. It’s yours for £250 +P&P.

Good mate of mine (Newcastle fan since he was a kid) reckons Howe’s time is up. I disagree but it’s not the extreme minority view it once was

Love to know who his choice for a replacement is. We're not attracting any of the big boys for as long as our hands are tied behind our back every transfer window.

Fucking Eddie Out  give your heeds a fucking shake.

What manager could get better out of the likes of Murphy, Miggy and Longstaff man?

I was surprised at seeing him rest Gordon today, but not Tonali.  We are coming into one of the most busiest periods of the year after what would have been an exhausting game on Wedsnesday.  Not just physically, but mentally too.  We grafted our bollocks off on Wedsnesday and then 3 days later we are down into London against a side that has one of the best home records in the league.

We have a week off now and then its;

14th Dec - Leicester (h)

18th Dec - Brentford (h) in the cup.  How many would have taken a loss today and beat them in that?

21st Dec - Ipswich (a)

26th Dec - Villa (h)

30th Dec - 'UNITED' (a)

4th Jan - Spurs (a)

That's 6 games in 22 days. An average of a game every 4ish days.  Mixed with travelling, recovery etc.  Howe needs to use his squad.  Unfortunately, we aren't stacked in the squad with options.  Is that Eddies fault?  No, so fucking give your heads a shake man.

People way too impatient about this. If we take Howe out, what holds in place the sense of togetherness he fostered here? I actually like the club at the moment for the first time in a long time, and that is absolutely down to Howe. I don't mind us being midtable for a bit while we develop ffs, wasn't that long ago we were relegation fodder year on year.

We are never gonna achieve anything if we start throwing away good people in the hope of an immediate success. This club is never going to win anything if it doesn't build properly.

People need to be very careful what they wish for. Nothing would derail the "project" worse than entering the managerial merry go round.

Not to mention the feel good factor around the club he's been instrumental in creating. That is so critical for anyone wanting to succeed at NUFC.

We should have zero expectation of top 6 with the squad we've got really. Or very little expectation. The bloke is a victim of his own absolutely ludicrous success in that CL season, and then the performances we put in in that competition.

We all thought we'd cracked it. We absolutely hadn't, and some people aren't capable of coming to terms with that.
