No. He hasn’t been able to progress the team because we haven’t progressed in the transfer market.

The last few windows have been very disappointing. I’ll be gutted when he gets the bullet. There is obviously things going on behind the scenes this year so I’m not fancying his chances if the slump continues.

I think a lot of the problems, as HM says, stems from not being able to improve the squad recently. You need to keep improving your squad just to tread water in the premier league. You might get a new manager bounce but I think that would just paper over the cracks. The timing of not being able to kick on is frustrating as fuck like. Because apart from Liverpool the CL spots are wide open. I’d expect Man City to finish at least 2nd but there’s lots of sides misfiring / inconsistent

Absolutely this. Teams and players get found out over time and you need to keep tweaking things and freshening it up. I still like Eddie and I strongly doubt any other manager can come in and get better results after a period of relative stagnation in team development.

We chased an ever more expensive defender for a month and a half.

Well I guess we're one of those sides. The league is all over the place. Really disappointing week though.

I can't see anybody doing better than Howe for us but nothing lasts forever and I wonder if his heart is in it.

I don't wonder if his heart is in it at all. He's trying to evolve when he can't player wise, should he go back to a couple of years ago? Other managers catch on to things so maybe not? We caught a load of teams out in the CL qualifying year.

I've had the faith up until now, but I'm starting to wonder whether a more experienced manager would get more out of what is probably our most talented and most expensively assembled squad in the clubs history.

And by experienced, I don't just mean years in the game. I mean someone who has experience of fighting to keep a club in the top 4 year after year, and can motivate international players to consistently put in performances against bottom 3 clubs on a cold, wet pitch. Eddie's experience is largely at the other end of the table with cloggers prior to coming here.

It’s not that good. He still has shite left over from Ashley era.

Our bench today contained Trippier, Almiron, Longstaff, Barnes, Wilson, Dubravka, Osula (£15mil), Kelly (£100k+ pw). That excuse is starting to wear thin. Other than City or Liverpool that bench is better than most in the league.

Osula at £15mil is baffling given he can't even get a game when our only other fit striker gets injured.

I mean that bench is far from great.

Aye. Disastrous window. We needed a RW.

we’ve needed one since before the takeover.

we have an imbalanced squad. No number 10 and our best two wingers both want to play on the left.

back the manager. He’s shown what he can do when he’s supported in the transfer market. If we sack him a new manager might want to completely rebuild the squad, which might set us back a season or two before we go again.

Arteta was given 3-4 seasons before they started competing for top 4.

Eddie in. Our stuttering season is on the owners, not the manager.

It’s a fucking mental suggestion but sacking him is the easy bit. Replacing him is far harder.

As it stands, he needs a freshening up of the squad. He’s played every possible hand with this group of players.

As for Osula, he’s shown with Hall that he will not put them until he thinks they’re ready and he won’t be moved. Let’s hope it works as well as it did with Hall
