Passing accuracy

Recommended Posts

Our passing has been shite whatever the stats say. Not long balls or intricate passing but we’ve fucked up far too many routine passes this season.

Bruno looked a lot sharper today. Tonali sadly didn’t but I’m sure he’ll get upto speed soon.

Thought Bruno was decent today. Tonali started well but second half he was meh.

Some of our players look like they’re never happy with the ball at their feet but I’d wager our passing accuracy is so low because we play a lot of balls forward to try and set people away or break lines. High risk, high reward and all that and I’d rather lose it in their half than ours

True.

They also would have plummeted when Murphy came on v Spurs. If he hadn’t set up the goal it would have been one of the worst displays I’ve ever seen from a professional footballer.

Almost every forward pass Trippier played in the first half an hour was misplaced. Murphy never looked on his toes, so that wouldn't have helped.

Hall fluffed a few too, along with Tonali as he tired later on.

Generally though, our passing looked much better yesterday, largerly due to Bruno picking the ball up in those pockets much more frequently than he has been.

Trippier's passing early on was shocking and looked like he didn't really want the ball which is unusual for him.

Frightened me when Burn and Pope were passing to each other at the end. Wasn't sure who was going to pass to the opposition first. 🙁

Pope did surprisingly okay with the ball at his feet for once. Still makes me nervous whenever we pass back to him

It helped that Everton had zero interest in putting him under pressure like.

Nick Pope treats a football like a handgrenade. His years playing at Burnley under Dyche must have really affected him.

Joelinton's time is up - he's one of th clubs highest earners, but does fuck all? He can't control a ball, he does create, he doesn't score.

Bruno, Tonali, Hall, Schar, Trippier are the only players than control the ball propely.

Joelinton looked like he was getting back to himself yesterday.

I'm wondering if the deep state has been feeding us all alternative streams. Did anyone have one where we won?

Tonali was a bit disappointing with the ball yesterday. You've got to think it's the way we play and where we currently are as a team that so many usually technically good players have struggled to far. Or is it the other way around? More confidence and calmness on the ball would lead to more chances and better forward play?

Trippier a few games ago seemed to be the answer as he calmed everything down but since he's started he hasn't looked great at all. Tino when he came on added a lot of energy and pace and you think oh why aren't we starting him. Good luck to Eddie because you can tell it's hard to know what's ours best starting eleven right now.

Joe has looked like himself physically and imposed himself on the opposition really well last two games. But his end product and composure is still lacking, also loses the ball a lot in important positions.

Bruno has also been much better after an absolutely honking start to the season. I think it's important Eddie perseveres with these 3 on midfield, especially with Isak back and Gordon and Barnes on the wings. There are signs of improvement, a goal or two is all it could take to bring the attacking confidence back.

I thought Trippier was good yesterday.

his passing radar was a bit off the first half I thought but we look far more composed building out from the back with him and schar back in the team

Tino’s time will come but Trippier should keep his place for now. I do find it odd that our fullbacks are so different to each other. If Howe is trying to get us to play a certain style, Kelly is completely different to Hall. Kelly looks like Burn playing at left back (a centre back out of position in other words) and Trippier’s game is completely different to Tino. though you could argue it’s good to have a versatile squad to give you different options for different opponents

Nick Pope - Hand Grenade? Who the fuck kicks a hand grenade?

Trippier - Couldn't control his bowels based on Saturday.

Joelinton -
