Mea culpa, he would still pay British taxes in NI obviously. That's me being stupid and I shouldn't have made the original post without engaging my brain. Genuinely don't have an issue with him not wearing a poppy, but always found it slightly contradictory that he's staunchly republican but chooses to live in England/Wales. On a side note, it's bizarre that such a big part of politics in this country (the troubles) was completely absent from my school curriculum. Literally wasn't even mentioned. I hold my hands up to being naive about a lot of it. I was brought up atheist and feeling far more "North Eastern" than "English" I learned about it in history, like. We had to do it for part of our GCSEs. Though it was the full history of Ireland but it covered the British army occupation of Ireland and Bloody Sunday too.
