You don't think they are thinking the same thing? We well and truly put the wind up them when we played them at SJP, they have no advantage over us at Wembley. Make sure we give them a game of it at Anfield and there will be nerves for them as well.
OTF 8222 Posted Friday at 10:21 Share Posted Friday at 10:21 I really don't like Liverpool, intensely so, but I have to admit from what I have seen of Slot he is likeable, bit of a Dutch Eddie Howe in terms of temperament, technical knowledge and application. Level headed, listens to and responds to question with accuracy. Howe is obviously much better looking. It could just be that I'm on a high from the Arsenal game but what an occassion it would be to beat a high flying Liverpool. A final for the ages. There should be an incredible atmosphere in the stadium (mostly thanks to us) and our players will be ready for it this time. Just need to ensure we don't suffer any significant injuries.

That will be a hugely interesting match, I don't think we'll see any tactical messing about from either side (unless Liverpool have already locked up the league at that point) in that we'll both be putting our best foot forward in both this and the final a few weeks later.
wykikitoon 22290 Posted Friday at 10:25 Share Posted Friday at 10:25 Slots already started with some of the excuses and a bit cuntish at times. Let's see his true colours though when Salah and Virgin fuck off. Hopefully 'Trent' is fit for the final so Gordon can rip him a new arsehole. Rayvin 5795 Posted Friday at 10:35 Share Posted Friday at 10:35 Yeah but we can go at it without pressure because our best friends at Sky will ensure we're a complete afterthought in the entire build up.

I just hope we don’t bottle it like the last three trips to Wembley. It’s no disgrace to lose to Liverpool in a cup final. Just have a go like we have done against all the “big” clubs this season. We’ll need some luck with injuries and form leading up to this but just give them a game and don’t be overawed by the occasion. They’re favourites but we can beat them.

Let’s see if he turns into a Klopp or Arteta style twat when things drop off for them. It will happen at some point. Toonpack 11049 Posted Friday at 11:00 Share Posted Friday at 11:00 I firmly believe we'll do them. We won't indulge in any of that "enjoy the occasion/experience" bullshit and associated "cup fever" it'll be 100% down to business. We did the "oooh we're at Wembley/am getting me suit measured" hoopla last time and we lost, which I am certain the team remember was anything but enjoyable. We're going there this time to win the fucking thing.

I wish that were true or if there was some way positive thinking could supersede inherited failure. Maybe Eddie can do something about it, maybe not. If you include the charity shield and the 2000 FA SF, we have lost 7 times in a row at Wembley. The chance of that happening randomly if we assume each match was a coin toss is <1%. Now some of those matches we were the better side, certainly we were against Chelsea, but we lacked the mentality which comes with success. The first cup is the hardest to win, which is why it is so important.

ewerk 32619 Posted Friday at 11:10 Share Posted Friday at 11:10 Start the Greek Odyssey at LB at Anfield and get him to snap Salah's ankle in two in the first minute. At least then he won't have been a complete waste of £20m.

We're going there this time to win the fucking thing. This is the attitude. Those of you going, oh we've not won there in ages or we never beat Liverpool - what's the answer, just don't bother? We're undefeated to Liverpool this season, how does that work with your superstition? We want to win stuff, these are the cunts we have to beat. Life has enough disappointments that we have to deal with, if you want to be a miserable surrender monkey, at least wait until the disappointment actually happens. Well, we can just agree to disagree I think. There has to be some objective scientific reason to explain both winning and losing streaks beyond chance, if you use standard statistical paradigms (both frequentist but especially Bayesian). What bugs me is people saying I'm being negative. I'm not, I'm being rationale, objective. Doesn't make me less of a supporter. We can win, but its patently not true to say our legacy does not impact us and impact those probabilities - or Liverpool for that matter - now, and utter horse plop for anyone claiming Liverpool is a better draw for us than Spurs. IMO.
sammynb 3851 Posted Friday at 11:37 Share Posted Friday at 11:37 @Renton hey, don't take it the wrong way, I'm just trying to be the sausage waving positive one. Not in a Billy big balls way like Gemmill likes to think he is but in a rational, look to the future not the past way. Also, can I just argue the toss about your scientific rational/argument? How can you use a statistical argument about different players from different times/eras, even in different locations (old v new Wembley)? You can't, not to any scientific standard that would stand up under scrutiny. Let's look at the most relevant statistic for these players, at this time/era/season - we are currently undefeated to Liverpool both this season AND at the new Wembley.
