The Fish 10962
Probably should hold off until the window closes to cement this, but here's a thread anyway. Signing of the season: Whichever big signing we make before the window closes. Top goalscorer: Isak Most assists: Gordon Biggest surprise: Osula displaces Wilson as second choice striker. Best Young player: Hall Player of the season: Bruno PL finish: 5th Trophies? League Cup
Howmanheyman 33813
Signing of the season: Tonali, (last year doesn't count, point to prove, will owe us etc). Top goalscorer: Isak Most assists: Bruno Biggest surprise: Burn plays CB while players are out and does excellently alongside which ever CB we sign or Schär. Plays there most of the season. Best Young player: The lad we sold to Brighton. (It's inevitable). Player of the season: Tonali PL finish: 3rd to 7th, (extremely injury dependant). Trophies? Christmas Tree 4815
The lack of European football had me hoping for a good season, however the poor showing in the transfer market (so far) has stifled that hope. As we stand today, I think we will struggle to improve on last year. Not much to go on from the pre season other than Hall looks ready to shine and Tino looks a long way off filling Trippiers boots. We do however have the excitement of waiting to see which of Miggy or Murphy gets the nod All in all, a poorer first 11 than last season. Opportunity missed by those in charge of recruitment. Gemmill 45988
The fewer games alone will mean we do better in the league than last season, regardless of what happens in the rest of the window.

Without selling any of our first 11 and tonali coming back, in what universe is it a poorer first 11 than last season? 4

Botman I agree is a miss, but injuries aren’t permanent. Indeed we have players fit who missed loads of last season, so swings and roundabouts. Trippier hasn’t been as bad as everyone goes on about. Young players like Miley, Hall, Tini and year older and more experienced. Easy this.

Botman missed 21 league games last season Trippier's form is of concern, but Tino's form is not. We have two fully fit strikers Schar and Burn haven't suddenly turned into Methuselah in the past 6 months. Our first team now has; a fully fit Pope A stronger back line because of; Hall and Livramento having more experience and more time with Howe, Kelly is an upgrade on Lascelles at the very least, Hopefully Guehi will come in as an upgrade on Schar too. More depth in the centre as we'll have Bruno, Joelinton, Longstaff, Miley (x2), Tonali, and Willock More depth up front as Isak will start and Osula will be deputy until Wilson returns, then we'll have 3 strikers. If we sell Wilson, then I'm confident we'll bring in someone else. We're a lot stronger than last season, especially if we can avoid repeating the worst injury crisis I've ever seen at Newcastle.
