He's not been bad tonight. The whole saga imo had a serious impact on him. But can anyone see us going in for him in Jan? If so it's gotta be £40m max.

I'm all for an opportunistic good signing, if there are multiple teams in for him in Jan then the value won't be there though and if there aren't we can sign him for less next summer.

Given our lack of being able to put the ball in the next I think a productive right winger is even more of a need than it was in summer so I want us spending money there first.

His head has properly dropped. Lost the ball in the last minute and just stood still and let forrest break on them. I stand by my earlier assertion, we have dodged a bullet.

Not even sure he will be worth that. He can sign a pre contract agreement in 12months  and has looked shite most of this season

Same. I never rated him. He was head and shoulders the worst CB we played against at St James's last season.

He looked good for England to be fair but then tournaments generally aren't a good indicator of a players quality.

i still think we should have gone for a RW. he never looked like a £70m CD - what a fucking farce that whole saga was man. they better get their act together in january or this season could be a damp squib

The January window isn't gonna save our season. It'll be hard to sign anyone and March before they're up to speed and ready to start games.

to say nowt of the fact that howe won't give them anything other than a minutes cameo at the end of the match till about 2028

Exactly. People who bank on us doing serious business in January to strengthen our first team will be incredibly disappointed come February.

One top class RW would make a massive difference.

And if Botman comes back anything like his former self then we’d be much stronger.

It would be canny fucking handy to have Callum Wilson playing as well. Hopefully he’ll be interested in performing for a new contract somewhere or other.

Different story making signings that move you away from the relegation zone. A couple of wins get you away from trouble cos no one down there can string two results together.

January signings come too late to move you anywhere too far up the league, cos those teams around you also win lots, and they probably don't turn you into a cup winner.

The way some are pissing their pants you would think we were in relegation.

It does make you feel somewhat pissed off at just how obssessed with compliance the club as been. You have the likes of Chelsea finding loopholes left, right and center whereas City are the ones taking on the league legally. We've just sat back and been goody two shoes about the whole thing.

This expectation many of us had that the weight of PIFs resources will be brought down to deal with PSR hasn't materialized at all, whether it's legal challenges or finding ways around it. For a while I put it down to a slow and steady methodical approach that might bear dividends in the future; I'm not sure anymore with the upheavel this summer. Not quite the well oiled machine we thought it was.

I don't have any issue with the club following the rules. If we break the rules, we'll face points deductions.

Whatever Chelsea has done, it's been deemed to be within the rules so far, as far as I'm aware. And we don't have any hotels, or any other assets to sell.

The rules that we're following are total bullshit, but they're fairly black and white. There IS no magic wand, so it's not right to criticise the club for not locating it.

Well yes, but these are rules that favor the biggest clubs and have been specifically tailored to stop us post takeover. Yet City are the ones taking the league on over that? They're affected too of course but we just seem to be whimpering in a corner. I'd like to see a little bit of agitation tbh.

I'm not saying break the rules but we seem to have found absolutely no way to use PIFs muscle to our benefit. At various times some of us have mentioned that we'd expect to see more sponsorships etc by now but that progress also seems to be slow. The stadium feasibility study alone seems to be taking years. These are sensitive issues granted but if you're not willing to shake things up a bit PSR and the Premier league will have us tied down for decades.

Maybe I'm just frustrated, but I do think the chaos in the summer has shown all is not as well planned as we thought it was. And maybe they'll turn it around but by the looks of it we cant expect much activity in the January window and that's on the back of a truly pathetic window where the squad has actually regressed.

So either we'll end up having to sell one of our stars (which will make the sales of Minteh and Anderson even more terrible) or Eddie will be made the scapegoat.

Man City took the PL to court cos they had a sponsorship deal refused due to the new rules. We acted as witness on their behalf. We don't have to come up with our own separate legal challenge.

And we aren't able to use PIF's muscle to our benefit because it's muscle is entirely financial and they've brought rules in specifically to prevent a situation where a PIF comes along and uses its financial muscle.

We're all frustrated, but blaming the club because they haven't taken the PL to court, or haven't found a hotel to sell (instead of squad players), is "daddy I want an oompah loompah!" territory. The rules need to change. And Man City's victory will hopefully be the start of that. But if the rules don't change, we're going to go on being frustrated in the short term at the very least.
