Newcatle sources have rubbished reports linking them with Villarreal striker Diego Forlan.

The managerless Magpies were said to have sent a scout to Anfield on Wednesday to watch Forlan play for Uruguay against England.

But no Newcastle official was present at the game.

And the word from inside St James's Park is that there is no chance of United agreeing a deal for any player before they appoint a new permanent manager.

Forlan won the "Golden Shoe" award along with Thierry Henry for Europe's top scorer last season after his move from Manchester United.

Shame.

Couldn't really see why he'd want to leave Villareal though?  :clapping:

money?

I know Villareal is currently in 6th place in La Liga and still in CL, but it is a small club with limited finances...

Would he want another chance in England considering he was frozen out at ManUre though?

Hmm, difficult to know... I think he would - if the price was right (The Mirror reports a £8m fee). But I don't rate him that much - he did an amazing job last season, but has been disappointing this season with just six goal in La Liga and two in the CL. :)
