Bowyer had to settle for a place on the bench, and whe was joined by Spanish international Albert Luque who was also recalled to the squad. Matty Pattison was the player who made way to allow Luque to return. Bolton had former Newcastle favourite Gary Speed in their side. Brilliant turn by Ameobi, who gets passed two defenders but then realises he's out into touch. 23 minutes Nolan strikes on the volley, blocked by Elliott, and the ball bounces off the post! that was very close.
