I know England got to the finals ans were 10 minutes from forcing extra time... but.

I think they were dogshit throughout. Led by a dogshit manager. If they had someone like Pep they would have won it with this squad. Still enough young players for a promising future under a manager with actual pedigree. But ffs, please can we cut out the hype and hysteria.

Basically played well in the first half v Holland 😂

Aye, Neville saying that England came up against better quality tonight. They didn’t, they came up against a better team but man for man Spain are no better than England.

Lucky as fuck to get this far and Southgate cements his legacy by being ultra conservative / utterly dull in the final. Spain weren’t great by their standards but they didn’t have to be. He’s a nice bloke but he’s an absolutely bang average manager. And if you think that’s an overreaction, honestly tell me how you’d feel if him and Howe swapped jobs tomorrow.
Spain  were comfortably the best (and most entertaining) team in the tournament though so well deserved and definitely the right result

I'm not England's number one fan so it's a 100% balanced opinion and not clouded by bias but he's definitely who he is, and that's an average, cautious manager who's not played his best hand. Not the first England manager to do that to be fair to him but there's your problem. Need a ruthless man in the job, I'm afraid.

I was reading that Mainoo's dad is a big LA Lakers fan, but he just likes to wing it on the kids' birth certificates. It was in an interview with his brother Shakwheel.

I sincerely hope that that's it for Southgate. He's done an unreal job, but it's got to be the end of the road now.

At this stage he should be the manager who set it up for the next manager to win.

Tough luck but in the end it's a victory for good attacking football. Spain a better team by miles. Cans for Deigo!

It's fine margins, win today and he'd be a legend. But when you really look at it one could say England might have had 2-3 trophies in the last 10 years if they had a brave manager. And one of those tournaments was at home ffs, if you're ever going to take a chance. Keep him and this will happen again in 2026.

Went behind in every knockout game and had to make changes to claw back a result, followed by starting the same fucking players all over again, every single time.

Gordon, Palmer and Watkins ought to be furious at the lack of opportunity they were afforded given their efforts in their time on the pitch.

Hoping to see the back of Southgate now, his tournament record is unquestionably very good, but this euros has been fucking dreadful to watch. He is very clearly out of ideas now that his first crop are aging out, he doesn't know how to integrate the new players in properly unless he's absolutely forced to.

As manager Southgate has done everything right apart from the tactics. After so many years in the role he should be thanked for his efforts and shown the door.

However, the difficult question is who replaces him.

Southgate has just as good as admitted that Kane wasn’t 100% for the tournament, and yet he still played the fucker ahead of fitter, faster, younger options.

Spain were absolutely great to watch. Thought they were the only standout team in a otherwise poor tournament. A true victory for football. Surely the birth of a new iberian dynasty. Which, of course, is another big problem for England going forward. Not that I'm arsed.

I will be getting behind team GB in Paris in a couple of weeks though.

I tell you what like, I felt for Luke Shaw. He was out on his feet with about 35 minutes to go and Southgate hung the poor cunt out to dry. Even more so as he could’ve done a straight swap for TAA or TrIppier or put either of them on and shifted Saka over.

Aye, the lack of subs or multiple subs that can change the game was strange. It’s not like at any point in the second half you could see England going on to win the match.
