Does anyone think Howe’s job is on the line if we lose?

I don’t but I’m seeing a lot of gobshites on twitter saying as much

He could lose the next 3 games and IMO he has enough credit in the bank. But what does Wor Amanda and Co think?

It would surprise me a lot and make me weary about the fickleness of Ashworth and the owners. The last four weeks have been disappointing but shouldn’t determine Howe‘s future judging on the things he has achieved and the mitigating factors.

I think staveley likes him and has understood the minor miracle he has achieved thus far.  I’m sure she is aware of the injury problems we have as well.

I’m one concern is that she wears her heart on the sleeve.

im basing all of this on body language from the documentary.

i think they still love him, regression is priced in this year and all the England-based owners will back him for at least a couple more windows.

Whether the Saudi overlords agree is another matter

There must be a cut off point though. For example,  If he loses the next 6 games will he survive?

That would be 13 defeats out of 14.

not many would survive a run like that. I fully expect Howe to turn it around but we could quite feasibly lose to Villa and Man City, what would that be - 9 losses out of 10?

No, but lose to Sunderland, Villa and City (and the last 2 are odds on) and he's lost 10 from the last 11. Thats sacking form for a lot of clubs.

I also worry that we are 80% owned by a silent majority. Fuck knows what PIF are thinking

edit- everyone just said that!

It is, BUT, context should be looked at.

The Saudis should give him the tools to work with if they’re concerned. Make sure we don’t have to flog Miggy and Gordon to death by playing them week in week out. Give Howe options on the bench he trusts.

They’ve gone out of their way to play by the rules so far while the cartel have done everything in their power to slow our progress.

It was something that pleased me at first - deflecting criticism because we were doing it within our means.

But perhaps it’s time we started acting like the richest club in the world. We don’t even need to spend that much if we’re cute about it. We can milk the Saudi pro league clubs. The vote against feeder clubs went in our favour. Why the fuck not? Give Howe Ruben Neves and Mahrez on loan and embrace the fewm .

Sunderland is a key game. That would lose him a portion of the supporters.

Absolutely no idea where people’s confidence is coming from looking at our cup form (forever) & away form this season

Aye. My biggest fear right now is Bruno doing something stupid and getting sent off after 10 minutes. The way our luck has gone this season....

We should be cruusing this game by all means but confidence is a massive factor in football.

It depends on how you look at. Forest at home and Luton away arent great.

i can see this trajectory carrying on to be honest unless we get some players on the pitch that are 100% fit.

I’m more worried about them just being fitter and wanting it more.

OK, let me indulge in the piss.

Say we lose we do lose the next 3 games, like KD says that's 10 losses out of 11.

1 - City - One of the best teams in the world.
2 - Villa - Currently 2nd.
3 - Mackems - Not acceptable, but it's FA Cup Football
4 - Liverpool - Shocking ref decisions, but it's away at Anfield.
5 - Forest - Worst Display at Home (Maybe away) under Howe?

6 - Luton - Maybe this shades the above for away
7 - Chelsea - Knocked out on Pens.  We should have won that but a 93rd min equaliser from a fuck up from a player thats running on gas after weeks and weeks of injuries.
9 - Fulham - Win and decent display
10 - AC Milan - Took the lead against one of Europe's giants.  We were beaten by a true European Giant. Again weeks of injuries catching up with us

11 - Spurs - Poor display again, but again, weeks of injuries not helping.

So I think we do need to keep a rounded view on things.

Football is funny, and fickle. A couple of decent results and we'll be flowing again, sausages everywhere. Eddie will sort it out. Just not this month perhaps  Let's just have some relief from the mackem game.

you’ve missed us getting thumped off Everton out of that.

We’ve been played off the park and/or conceded chance after chance in most of the games (bar Fulham who had 10 men). I think that’s the striking thing is we’ve deserved what we’ve got from those games (bar Meelan).

There have been a lot of humpings in that run.

You see if I add that, that goes to 12 which is beyond what KD said   Do you want to keep moving the goalposts?

Are we now just ignoring the horrific injuries?  I can't keep up here

Everton was 8 games ago.

Im playing devils advocate but it can be painted two different ways.  I’m fully behind Eddie but every defeat is chipping away at him. And it’s the manner of defeat which is alarming,

I think Howe is safe (as he should be) in that Amazon series, they even talked about an expected drop off following a CL debut season in the Adidas segment. The situation is no surprise to them.

Heart says no, head says possibly.

I think it comes down to the Saudis and how much they are worried about the short term goals of their investment. Staveley, Merdhad and Reuben will have very little influence if PIF have made their minds up.

I hope they back him rather than sack him in January though, he's built up a lot of goodwill and only the absolute wall punchers will be crying for his head if we lose to the mackems.

This is a hard game. When it comes to a local game, all bets are off. When it comes to teams playing lower leagues, again, it can be all bets off.

I think we have enough to be able to win this.

I trust in Howe. I think PIF know what they are doing.  I didn't understand why we were after Emery or Howe. All I knew about Howe was that he had managed Bournemouth and I hadn't even factored in if he was there when he was relegated. Emery was another one I couldn't understand and now I can see what he is doing at Villa. I doubt that a team that managed to put together two really good candidates, manage to support out network to bring in the likes of Bruno (I don't believe many heard of him him before he came here), Botman (again an unknown) Burn (we all predicted how well that would work out) are going to make rash decisions. I think they are far colder than we are and it is good to see.

West Ham really struggled to manage Europe and the Premier League last year. This is a normal thing.

We are probably going to be a bit of a yoyo club for a while. At least it is Champions League and not Championship for a change.

Unless they can find a way around FFP they'll have to suck it up. And it's hard to think of another manager who can get more out of the current players than Eddie has.

If we dont turn it around in February that's when the alarm bells should go off. We've already been soundly beaten by many poor teams so when the fixture list and injuries have eased off there will be no mitigating factors. Football can be funny but there's no reason to think we wont turn it around then, a manager and players that have been this good for two years shouldnt just suddenly become shite.

Whoever pulled together that 2man shortlist needs a pay rise!
