I thought we looked the stronger side 2nd half.
Not displeased at all with that result for our first CL game in decades.
We’ve got nowt to fear bringing these back to SJP

Their gaffer, Pop Guardiola,  will be more pissed off than Edward after that.

Away point at the San Siro. Another clean sheet. Shouldn't underestimate how good a result that is against last year's finalists

Can't say I enjoyed it tbh, but happy now

Semifinalists tbf. But yeah, what we need to do now is turn around our home form and performances.

Yeah there's work to do but we cannot be that bad a side at the moment if we can go to the San Siro and get a clean sheet.

Aye but being realistic we hardly deserved the clean sheet. A few good saves from Pope and a failure by Milan to take their chances.

None of that will matter come the final table but we need to improve sharpish, we haven’t looked good since the first day of the season.

happy enough with the result, not particularly the performance, thought we were fucking woeful in the final third, pretty much par for the course since the first game of the season.

was at the san siro 20 years ago, we were fucking magnificent and all who were there had a match to remember to forever.

bit gutted for the young'uns there tonight they didn't get to experience something even remotely similar.

Fair comment but nonetheless I think we should take positives from our first game back in the big time ;)

Longy and Trips for MOTM for me, probably Trips just shading it. Just can't understand what's happened to us. Is Joelinton the key? Still little intensity in winning 2nd balls and a lack of counter. Gordon looks decent still, but demands balls to run on to whereas Miggy is much more or a collect and run player. Isak looked more like Chris Wood tonight which is concerning. Thought Burn looked very slow though and was being turned a lot. We really need to start looking at rotating that LB slot.

They'll get many more chances. And let's be honest, the actual football is only 10% of the experience.

Anyone else think we looked like shell-shocked pussies and, if so, who do you replace him with?

Nope

First half wasn’t great but we looked the stronger side for most of the second to me.
Reolace who?

Agree with Strawb. We can do these at home.

Not the easiest performance to watch. I was surprised how early we seemed to tire compared to last season. Not used to playing every three days I guess. Maybe need add a new dope doctor to the back room staff. Pogba’s doctor might have an opening.

I don’t think Milan bossed the game by any means. They just did more with the ball when they had it. Our defence looked a little panicked at times and we lacked creativity when we got near the box.

Great point on balance and a clean sheet

One thing that's got me scratching my head. Isak. How do we get him firing again?

He was coming a bit deeper looking the ball but, like all strikers, it’s incredibly difficult to score if you don’t have the service.

You don't mean Howe, surely?

I think he does, I’m putting it down to overindulgence.

He wasn't his usual in possession either though.

He's class, players dip in and out of form. It just happens that they've all dipped at the same time..

Good result. People should get a grip. We were still playing a major European side not some unwashed 5-a-side from down the road.

I did only really watch the second half and thought our players were struggling with the size of the pitch and positional awareness. Milan were tactically astute and more comfortable with the ball. Some of our players are struggling with confidence, fitness and form. Winning a point away is even better and if we can raise the intensity in games at home then we will see better performances and results.

I mean, Howe needs to grow into managing at this level too, I'm sure he'd be the first to say the same. But he works so hard, he's so committed that I'm personally prepared for it to take a bit of trial and error, some rough patches here and there, to be able to allow him to get to the point where he's got it all nailed down.

We don't need to be the team that smashes elite clubs around in the CL yet - in fact I almost don't want us to be because it's going to be way more satisfying later having had to grind through the levels and really earn it.
