Hey ho. Bit of a reality check there. We never got going but no disgrace in a 1 nil loss at the etihad. Just disappointed we didn't play better and give them a genuine test.

When you’re playing a team that can replace KDB with Phil Foden you’re really up against it.

Without doubt our toughest match of the season and it’s no disgrace to be beaten 1-0.

Just too good for us atm, when they win the ball back they keep it. We're sloppy at times and were even more so tonight.

However, them taking the ball into the corner running time down with 5 minutes left and Foden trying to raise some noise from the crowd suggests we're being taken seriously now. Still it feels like a great opportunity to do them at their place wasted.

Need to absolutely fuck Liverpool now to restore balance.

I'm sorry like, we were fucking awful going forwards tonight. Defended well and kept Haaland quiet, but we had plenty of turnovers and I can't remember us making a decent chance out of any of them.

Id be tempted to give Barnes or Anderson a start next week

I was a radio wanker most the match like Gemmill but this seems like an over reaction considering everything.

I'd have taken a 0-1 before kickoff if offered, tbh.  Wouldn't have been surprised to have lost 3-0.

Then again, I'm a cynical depressed twat, so there's that.

Anderson did nothing once he was on, got into a dangerous position once and horribly overhit the cross. I'd not judge anyone's peformamce too harshly here, as a team we were off our normal pace.

Losing 1-0 away to City isn't too much of a disappointing result. But the performance wasn't very good in attack. Defended well enough. Needed to get a goal to get anything because it's super unlikely we keep them scoreless. All things considered, it's good to get the hardest fixture of the season out of the way. We won't be this passive again this season. And by the time next season comes around, who knows where we'll be in relation to City. Onward and upwards.

Cheer up man, you’ve got a piss wet North East to look forward to in November

Yep, this is all you really need to say. We can't afford to even look at Foden and he's their second string.

Don't think we disgraced ourselves at all. First half, we were nervous and didn't get any momentum. Their goal was a rare moment of falling asleep which you can't do against City.  Thought we looked more positive and especially once we subbed Barnes and Anderson on. Longstaff did ok for me. Wilson offered a more direct threat, just a shame he chose to go the other way for his one on one..

There isn't much difference in the wingers. Id personally ease Barnes in over Gordon eventually.  I just think he'll be more productive goals-wise but they can all rotate well enough. I'd like to see Anderson play more as well. He can transition very well. He doesn't seem to have much luck in the PL but I feel that will come soon.

Fully agree. We can get a result anywhere else but this is a tough ask Literally the best team on the planet. Probably including national trams.

You have no idea how much I'm actually looking forward to that trip.  Many of my best memories are of winters spent in Stocksfield in front of a coal fire watching Billy Connolly stand up.  :D

Half Indian, half Polish/German/Scottish/Irish genes. "Hairy" is an understatement.

Aye, I'm an ungrateful cunt too. :D

We'll come back and comment when you've watched it

This lot played 3 days ago in 30c heat. Not saying we should have hammered them. But stringing 3 passes together would have been a start

Yes but you are starring in a new film - albeit in animated form.

Foden comes across as a good lad.

Not a difficult task when you're in the same team as Grealish.
