When you say all that, you have to then wonder does Eddie need to be a bit more ruthless?

Should AG not have played from the start?

Unlike the fan base (us included) Eddie is not going to discard a player after a bad performance. Not saying that ASM is in the long term plans but whilst he's here Eddie is going to try to make some use of him. He still did some useful stuff out there but his underlying flaw which we all agree on seems insurmountable at this point. It's not that he doesn't pass, as he's started to pass more often, it's that he's work shy and precious.

Theirs some serious nonsense being spouted in this thread so I re-watched the entire match focusing on ASM specifically.

ASM today,  combined with his team mates well, created several opportunities.

he pressed, tracked back, had the most successful tackles made ffs, effectively disproving any claims of laziness or disinterest

and through all this west ham were doubling up him (he still beat em most of the time), why weren't they doubling up on anyone else? hmmmm

anyone who had a problem with ASM this game is genuinely talking shite.

Where is the criticism for joelinton, schar? Fucken willock, almiron, POPE.

How did Almiron stay on the field instead of ASM?

The headless chook (AG) was shite too.

this was a decent first start since coming back from injury and just as he was getting into his swagger properly he got subbed, Eddie was mad for that. But not unexpected, he didn't know what to do with flair players at Bournemouth either.

Anyway, just say you're not a fan of ASM and stick to that, stop LYING about his performances though

based on what exactly from the last games?

Sometimes it seems like unless Maxi has done something YouTube worthy and we've scored from it, he's had a terrible game. Never seen a player get assessed in such binary terms

He loses the ball, or doesn't win a tackle and he's either on the ground or uselessly jogging. He's never been rewarded for flopping to the ground in an exaggerated fashion and yet he still does it each and every time. Miggy used to do it (but he was never workshy) and he's completely stopped it, but ASM seemingly can't.

He didn't have as bad a game as some are saying here and he did play some dangerous balls and troubled the defense on occassion, but more often than not he looked like the odd one out in team, the rest are moving into space (not just in a forward direction) and covering for each other defensively, he's only looking for his own run and when he does defend it's like he's doing you a favour.

I thought Gordon looked electric when he came on. Looked as though he was playing about twice the speed of everyone else.

It will be interesting to see where he ends up playing as some of his passing / play around midfield was superb. It’s almost like he would be wasted out left or right.

In my tiny football brain that doesn’t always understand formations I can imagine a diamond that has Bruno at the back of midfield him at the front and then Joelinton and Longstaff either side. I can imagine the speed of passing and creativity between Bruno and Gordon being magnificent.

Not sure if Howe would play like that or if it’s even possible.

He’s definitely going to get goals and assists.

I was thinking the same. When Bruno is fit who misses out? I suppose it gives a chance for us to rotate the likes of Willock, ciggy, Joe and even Miggy. Willock and Joe especially get through so much work they could do with a rest and we all know Joe likes a yellow card too.

Thought a draw was a fair result and won’t go over too much of what’s been said in here already but some of our players look fucked, even at this stage. Hopefully Gordon and Isak can bring a bit of spark back into the side.

As for Maxi  He can’t even be arsed to move to try find a slight bit of space to receive the ball. That’s why it’s so easy to double up on the lazy cunt

If only everyone could be as objective as yourself on the subject 👍🏻

I was at the match yesterday. You really get a sense of how little effort Maxi puts in when you watch the game in the flesh. He had a chance to play his way back into the side and he fucked it. Gordon looked much better in half the amount of time on the pitch. It wouldn’t surprise me if Gordon replaces him for the next game. I suspect ASM might be sold in the summer

I think that's the extra bit you get from being at the match, that us arm chair fans don't get.

Agree, he'll be gone. I think Eddie has tried to get through to him and genuinely think he has a positive attitude but he isn't the player for us anymore.

Aye, I was there too. Like you say you really saw how little he put into that performance seeing it first hand. I’ve rarely criticised him in the past but the lack of effort was inexcusable yesterday.

baffling too given how long he has had to wait for his opportunity

There was one moment yesterday, towards the end iirc, where ASM lost the ball and did backtrack and win the tackle, knocking the ball out of play. The fact I remember this instance though tells its own story, it was an exception to the rule. Anyhow, he served his purpose, we need to maximise our revenue when he's sold. If he goes to an EPL club, nailed on he will score against us imo.
